Vacation Rental Description
Lovely apartment in an entirely self-contained guest wing on the garden level of a recently built Provencal villa.
Surrounded only by trees and terraced slopes, located in over half an acre of terraced grounds within a forest of oak and pine. It has superb views of the hills around the unspoilt Provençal village of Cabris and provides a peaceful and secluded environment from which it is easy to visit the region.
The tranquil garden has lovely lawned areas with mature olive trees and steps leading from the shady outside terrace down to the 8 x 4m overflow pool which lies in the centre of the gardens.
Only 2 km from the active village of Peymeinade which has all the amenities you could wish for. Neighbouring town of Grasse (the perfume capital of the world!) with restaurants, bars and supermarkets etc.
(Some high terrace walls - may be unsuitable for children under 12).
COMMENTS FROM THE OWNERS; "We - Carole (English) and Jean-Luc (French but also speaks English) - live in the other wing of the building, our living area is completely separate, so you are unlikely to see or hear very much of us. We work during the day (usually until 7 or 8pm) so we’ll mainly be in residence in the evening and at weekends. We will use the pool from time to time but you will have unrestricted access to it whenever you wish and freedom of the garden. We’ll also be on hand to make sure you have a trouble-free holiday and to provide any information you wish on the area. If you have any problems at all, don’t hesitate to come and see us."
Peymeinade village, 15 min walk with restaurants and bars, butchers, fish shop, newsagent, hardware store, chemist, bread shops, post office and banks. For day to day shopping there are "Intermarché" & "Champion" supermarkets about 1 km (1.5 km) away.
It is a 25 minute drive to Cannes, 40 minutes to Nice airport and about 1½ hours to Monte Carlo, the Gorges de Verdon and St. Tropez. The nearest beaches are at Cannes, La Napoule or Theole sur Mer, all of which are just over half an hour away.
The surrounding area boasts some of the finest scenery Provence has to offer. The countryside is predominantly wooded hillsides dotted with picturesque, perched villages and interspersed with luxuriant valleys and deep gorges sparkling with fast flowing rivers and crystalline rock pools. The clear waters of nearby Lake St. Cassien are excellent for swimming.
There is also some of the best carp fishing in the world and a range of water sports, including windsurfing, sailing, rowing and pedalos. Alternatively, you can take a trip into the Tanneron hills and enjoy marvellous views over the lake and the Esterel National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty with its pine clad sandstone hills eroded over the years to create spectacular peaks and wild jagged rock formations rising up from the azure blue Mediterranean.
There are numerous interesting nearby villages. Cabris, perched on a cliff edge high above Grasse; Mougins, the gastronomic centre of the Cote d’Azur, St. Paul de Vence and Tourrettes sur Loup, picture book pretty and with a wide choice of artists’ studios for the discerning; Gourdon and St. Cezaire, perching on the edge of their respective gorges with superb views over the mountains and the coast from Nice to St. Tropez;
Montauroux, unspoilt and very typical of the area; Callian, ancient and very pretty; Fayence, with its lovely viewpoint and world famous gliding club; and, finally, Seillans, nestled in the hills and voted amongst the most attractive villages in France (“L’un des plus beaux villages de la France”).
