Island cottage in the grounds of an old watermill, private garden overlooking the river. Above ground pool.
Vacation Rental Description
We now have a (20' x 12' x 4' deep) above ground pool available in the summer months.Take advantage of cheaper off peak travel, start your holiday on the day of your choice and arrive anytime between 9am and 10pm. Minimum stay 5 days. No rush to leave on the day of your departure, leave when you are ready.
We allow a minimum of 3 days between bookings in order to mainatain a high standard of cleanliness.
Enjoy peace and tranquility in our rural former fishing lodge on the mill island surrounded by the river Auxance and the mill stream. There is a large south facing sun deck overlooking the river and a private garden area.
The cottage and sun deck are built 1.5 metres above ground level affording a good view of the river and surroundings.
We are only 5 minutes from the village of Latille where you will find a bank with cash machine, 2 bakers, post office, butcher, pharmacy and a Spar to cover most holiday needs. Poitiers city with good shopping, restaurants, airport and main line train station is half an hour away
Four people can eat in comfort in the kitchen/diner or on the sun deck accessed from the kitchen.
The oven is electric and the hob gas + one electric ring. Microwave, an electric kettle, washing machine, washing powder, washing up liquid, dish cloth (new for each visitor) and kitchen roll are also provided.
Central heating is included in the price. A portable airconditioner is available on request for a small additional charge.
English satellite television and radio plus a VHS video recorder and a DVD/CD player. Free ADSL (Broadband) 1 meg wired Internet access.
Set in the heart of the countryside with lots of wildlife to see, including Kigfishers, Heron, Red Squirels, Coypu and many other species of birds and butterflies.
Tourist attractions include:- Futoroscope, theme park of the moving image with amazing rides, simulators and a spectacular evening laser light display, Puy de Fou theme park, the Valley de Singes where you can walk in and take part in feeding among over 300 monkeys living free.
For golfers, there are 6 courses within easy driving distance. The nearest is Chateau Des Forges, 9 + 18 holes, driving range, a resident professional and a very good bar/restaurant, occasionally with weekend entertainment. Poitiers boasts the impressive Le Manoir de Beauvoir 18 holes and a top class restaurant. Other courses are: St Cyr; Roche Posey; Loudon and Mazières en Gâtine.
Plus fishing, riding, walking and many tourist attractions such as the Marais Poitevin also called the Venice Vert, paddle along the canals in a punt or a rowing boat.
It is not suitable for disabled visitors due to the bathroom access. Children will need special supervision near the river and sluice gates.
Start your holiday any day of your choice (subject to availability) between 09:00 and 22:00 French (UK time + 1 hour). Minimum stay 5 days. Leave when you are ready on departure day, no rush. We allow a minimum of 3 days between bookings in order to maintain our high standard of cleanliness.
A £200 pound security deposit is required in the form of a cheque that normally will not be cashed.
Out of season bookings by arrangement. good rates for long lets of 1 month or more.
Access to the property is via a footbridge across the mill stream from the parking area. Alternate access by car is possible across a private bridge over the river in dry weather by arrangement.
Let us have your grocery list by post or E-Mail at least a week before you arrive and it will be waiting for you on your arrival.
A local map will be provided with your booking invoice and a complete route if required. If you have GPS/SatNav, enter:- Lon:- 0,3'.5"W Lat:- 46,37'.34"N and you will find us.
We have 2 Border Collies which are kept well away from visitors but are happy to play if you wish.
Facilities
A portable airconditioner is available on request for a small additional charge. Automatic gas central heating is included. UK TV and radio by satellite, video recorder and DVD player. A tumble dryer is available if needed. The swimming pool (20' X 12' X 4' deep) is above ground and for visitors exclusive use when the Gite is occupied, we use it at other times. A BBQ and charcoal are provided. Two Bicycles available. The coast is about 1 to 1.5 hours drive away for a day at the beach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from around a 30 minute drive away. Clean bedding, towels etc. are provided weekly.
Activities
Theme Parks include Futuroscope and Puy de Fou. the Vallee de Singe monkey park is well worth a visit, walking through compounds with monkeys living free is an unusual experience. There are too many other places of interest to mention them all but brochures are provided in the Gite, or ask before you book.
Great shopping in Poitiers and plenty of resturants to choose from.
There are 6 golf courses within reasonable driving distance.
