The Walnut Tree is a 250 year old detatched stone cottage set in approx 2 acres of rural farmland.
Vacation Rental Description
The Walnut Tree is a stone built long house and is deal for tranquil holidays or as a base for house hunting, exploring, fishing, cycling, golf, horse riding. A 14 kw log burning stove provides a cosy winter environment. consisting of The property has a through kitchen/lounge/diner with large 14kw log fire, a very large double bedroom with a double bed and separate bathroom, utility area and loo. If required two other comfortable double bed settees are available in the main lounge area and the bedroom.
Additional electric heaters in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen areas allow you to choose your confort level in the winter. The bathroom, with a separate WC and heating, is off the utility area. The back of the property overlooks open farmland and woods.
It is ideal for a couple who love the peace and tranquility of rural France and just want to relax, or a base for house hunting in the area or exploring the major towns of Limoges, Poitiers, Bordeaux and the atlantic coastline. The Charente offers plenty of local fishing and permits can be obtained readily. A golf course open to all is located at St Junien about 40km away, and horse riding is available at Confolens about 15km from Bonnezac. For those who love canoeing and swimming (safely for small children) the picnic areas near Condac and St Martin Lars are ideal and approx 20kms distance. Nearest restaurants are about 7 km away in Charroux and Benest and Plueville.
Facilities
The coastal towns of La Rochelle and Royan are in the region of 1 1/2-2 hours distance as is the town of Cognac Futuroscope is in the direction of Poitiers and is 1 1/2 hours drive, well worth the visit to be placed in amazing situations whilst just sitting in your cinema seat. The large magnificent cities of Angouleme and Poitiers are steeped in history and are abundant with old architecture, theatres and modern shopping malls. Bordeaux is approx 2 hours drive.
Activities
Ruffec is a medium sized town, and has several supermarkets, bars and restaurents, there are many small french shops. It also has a market on Wednesady and Saturday mornings.
The nearest town is Civray, about 15 kms that also has several supermarkets and shops.
