There are plenty of pretty villages and towns to explore in the locality,which is famous for it's apple orchards. Nearby, at both Verruyes and Secondigny there are Plan l'eaus, with inland beaches,fishing,tennis and childrens playgrounds. There are restaurants and cafes on site. Petit Chene Golf Club and horse riding are within 10 minutes drive at Mazieres-en-Gatine.The beaches of La Rochelle and Les Sables D'Ollones are about an hour's drive as are the Marais Poitevin National Park and Puy du Fou ( a medieval spectacular). Futurescope is located at Poitiers and if you like fishing there is Pescalis at Moncoutant or one day local fishing permits at a variety of locations. An Adventure Forest and Go-karting are also located at Moncoutant. Immediately to the south is the former regional capital, Niort,with a vast selection of fashion outlets,chic restaurants and factory shops.
