Coast/Beach
La Palmyre - Situated between Royan and La Rochelle, Zoo de la Palmyre has over 1600 'residents' including polar bears, gorillas, Siberian tigers, rhinoceroses and elephants and is a great day out. La Palmyre also boasts one of the largest and less crowded beaches in the area.
Chatelaillon Plage - Just south of La Rochelle the golden sands stretching for almost 2 miles and the mix of typical early 20th C seaside architecture make this a family resort par excellence.
Golf
Cognac - Par 72, 6122 metres
This course is a few km to the east of Cognac. It is located just north of the N141 across the River Charente.
Cognac Golf Course contains long and undulating fairways with fantastic views of the vineyards and the river. There are some difficult water hazards that have been positioned in very cunning positions. Every hole betters the latter and all 18 holes, offer a great day of golf for all abilities. There are also four helpful practice holes, a small putting green, and a driving range.
Royan - Par 71, SSS 73, 5970 metres
This is an exciting course with narrow fairways undulating through the tall pines of the La Courbre forest. It is located on the D25 coast road 5 miles north-west of Royan, next to the coast and under an hours drive from Neuvicq. In addition to the Cordouan course there is a further 6 hole par 3 course. There is a practice ground with driving range and a putting green.
