Located in a small hamlet 5 minutes from the town of Montemboeuf.Comfort and character feature in this sympathetically renovated detached stone cottage.It is cool in summer and warm in winter with a log burning stove plus electric radiators.Some of the walls have been left exposed as decorative features. There is the original wooden stone fire place in the lounge and a brick chimney in one of the bedrooms and many original oak timber beams throughout. 
 
Downstairs is open plan with a kitchen/diner and a very spacious living area with TV and DVD, books and some games.Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a shower room with WC. All windows overlook the gardens while the sky can be admired through the roof lights in the bedrooms. One bed is situated beneath such a window so why not leave the blind open and admire the milky way on a cloudless night 
 
A south west facing patio area to one side of the cottage has furiture and a BBQ, ideal for taking meals accomppanied by sunsets and birdsong. The peace is rarely broken with the sounds of sirens but rather the occasional farm tractor ,lowing cow, hoopoo and cuckoo in spring. Buzzards are to be seen all the year round. There are many species of birds to inspire the twitcher. Artista will be inspired by the views, flora and fauna. 
 
Grassy footpaths and country tracks are close by for rambling and searching out wildflowers in spring and summer. Nutritious chestnuts abound in the autumn. We are keen gardeners and hope to provide produce in season from salads to soft fruit. 
 
Our uniform depth pool is surrounded by lovely old trees and flower beds. An arboretum is in the making while the established 100 tree orchard is a riot of blossom in the spring. 
 
A lazy holiday in the locality of the cottage is a possibility. The local area has many beauty spots and places of interest to visit. Cycling around the area is pleasent as the gradients are moderate and undulating.Bikes are available for hire.

There are several local Chateaux to visit. The Charente lakes are only 5 minutes away complete with manmade beach. Canoeing,sailing, fishing and horse riding are nearby An excellent restaurant on the lake side provides wonderful setting. Candlelight evening meals are a speciality. An 18 hole Golf coarse is 10 minutes drive away. A Velo rail at nearby Roumazieres has specially adapted five seater bikes for fun outings on a disused railway line. Distilleries at Cognac are about 60 mins drive away. The beautiful town of Confolens with its August music and dance festival is 20 mins away. Historical routes are well mapped as are Resistance and WW11 monuments. Colourful street markets abound throught the summer and special events take place during the year including the classic cars racing round the streets of Angouleme in September.

A £75 deposit is required for each week booked. The Final balance is payable eight weeks before arrival. Deposits are none refundable so please take out all necessary holiday insurance. Payments by Cheque or Bank Transfer. A refundable £100 cash security deposit is required on arrival. There is a charge if the cottage is left in an unclean condition. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday
