Dear Sue and David, we would like to thank you for a very enjoyable stay in your gite last week. It was vey relaxing and for us, a good way to recharge our batteries in readiness for the autumn work in the garden. Congratulations for the splendid work in restoring the gite and the quality of decor and cleanliness left us in no doubt that we will be recommending your property to both friends and family. Good luck for the future. Best wishes from June and Doug.

We had a lovely week in this property with our 2 children aged 7 and 4. The property is a converted farm building with patios front and back and a good sized garden. The pool was larger than expected and the children made good use of it as we had excellent weather. Sue keeps the property spotlessly clean. The beds are comfy with nice linen and there was an abundance of fluffy towels. We were very comfortable, had lots of space in the living area and did not want for anything. We borrowed bikes and the children enjoyed some of the games there. The setting is very peaceful. We found lakes to swim in and enjoyed visiting nearby pretty towns and villages. We cycled to the boulangerie and tabac for ice creams and could walk the farm lanes, otherwise a car journey was necessary. The owners live next door and were helpful and very quiet.

Sue & David are very welcoming hosts and although live next door to the cottage we had total privacy all week but with the added advantage of them being there if needed. The inside of the cottage is all on one level and very light and spacious, open plan kitchen and sitting area, 2 lovely bedrooms and compact shower room/toilet, all modern, tastefully decorated/furnished and very comfortable. Everything was spotless and clean and Sue has thought of all you would need in the kitchen right down to the pizza cutter! Sue and David really have thought of everything. We arrived to find fresh eggs (from their own chickens), bread, butter, milk & cheese to start us off and a bottle of wine too - how very thoughtful and welcoming, thank you! The garden is lovely too, open countryside and again very well equipped with hammocks and sunloungers and also a good sized plunge pool, perfect for cooling off. The area is very private, peaceful and a great place to get away from it all. Definitely need a car to get around but lots of interesting places and towns to visit, in fact a week not enough to see everything in the area. Good visitors guide in the cottage to help plan the week and an excellent supply of books, videos, CDs and games.

We have enjoyed ourselves very much- 1st week a much needed rest and then a mixture of sunning and out and about. Thank you for a lovely clean and well equipped gite and for the food on arrival. Hope to see you again
Beautiful Gite overing looking the River Charente
We are situated in the heart of the beautiful region of Poitou-Charentes with its mild and balmy climate. The gîte is located on the side of the valley overlooking the River Charente making it an excellent location for fishing, walking, bird watching and cycling. Le Tournesol is located at the edge of the pretty peaceful village of Alloue where there is a boulangerie, bar/tabac and post office. The medieval town of Confolens, straddling the River Vienne, is just 15 minutes away, which, each August, plays host to an international festival of world music and dance.
