The house lies on the border of Charente and Charente Maritime in the centre of the Cognac vineyards, one of the neighbours being a cognac producer. Set in a small hamlet of 6 or so houses the environment is relaxing and peaceful.The nearest village, Breville, 3kms, has a bakery and a bar/restaurant. The nearest town is Matha (10kms) & the historic town of Cognac is about 15kms. The coast, Royan, is a I hour 10minute drive away. The nearest restaurant is at Breville, 2.5kms.
Cognac town provides a wealth of things to do: museums, distillery tours, river trips up the beautiful River Charente. In July the town hosts a week long blues festival that attracts performers from all over the world.
Futher down the River Charente the ancient town of Saintes, founded by the Romans, (30mins) is saturated in history and culture.
