Le Chatelard is an attractive building in the grounds of the Chateau de Charras, which has been tastefully restored and divided into gites each with their own terrace. 
Guests share the 13 acres of walled private grounds and all the facilities, including the 15m x 6m heated swimming pool with sun terrace, loungers and two tennis courts. In the summer there is also table tennis by the pool. For safety of younger guests the swimming pool has a lockable gate. 
 
The beautiful gardens have lovely walkways through avenues of lime trees, stone balustrades and staircases. There are also large grassed areas where you could enjoy a game of boules or a picnic whilst admiring the far reaching views overlooking the Dordogne. 
 
ACCOMMODATION 
 
The gite has 2 bedrooms sleeping 4 people, with 1 double room and 1 twin room, bathroom, open plan living/dining/kitchen with high ceilings and beautiful windows. There is a television (English channels), DVD player and stereo. 
 
The fitted kitchen is well equipped with oak units, fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining table seats six people. 
 
The gite has its own patio area overlooking the central courtyard with table, chairs and bar-b-que. This is a lovely spot to enjoy a meal and a glass of wine. 
 
Bedding and bath towels provided. Guests are requested to bring their own swimming towels. 
 
For winter guests there is underfloor heating and an open fire (logs can be arranged on request). Non smoking. We are unable to accept pets.

The gite is well equipped offering everything you need for a relaxing holiday in rural France. There is a terrace with table and chairs where you can sit outside. There is a bar-b-que and a table tennis outside in the summer. The chateau is on the edge of a small village a few minutes walk from the bakery and village shop. There is also a post office and a bar/restaurant.

Charras is situated 25km south-east of Angouleme in Charente, close to the Dordogne border. It is set in lush countryside and offers many places to walk and cycle in the surrounding forest. Each town and village has a market on different days of the week, in particular the one in Brantome on a Friday morning is not to be missed. There are also numerous bric-a-brac and brocante (country antique) markets from May until September. 
 
For people who enjoy good food and wine there are numerous excellent and inexpensive restaurants in the area. Try the local aperatif 'Pineau de Charentes'.

				Low Season Price:	£310 per Week
				High Season Price:	£495 per Week

Rental rates per week are from Saturday to Saturday. Guests can arrive at the gite after 4pm and are required to vacate by 10am on the morning of departure, unless otherwise arranged. It may be possible, out of high season, to arrange different arrival and departure days, depending on availability. Guests will be met on arrival at the Chateau by our English key holder and shown round the gite. Prices include linen and bath towels, guests are requested to bring their own swimming towels (the pool is open from mid May to mid September). 20% deposit required at time of booking. Remaining balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to departure. Weekly prices for each season: Low-season £ 250.00 GBP Mid-season £ 375.00 GBP High-season £ 475.00 GBP
