Vacation Rental Description

Situated in the second sunniest region of France, in the beautiful quiet relaxing countryside, within 5 mins from the local village, (Villebois Lavalette) and 30 mins from the nearest large town.(Angouleme)

The Gite is self-contained and stone built with a traditional red tiled roof. It stands in the gardens of Chez Fert surrounded by trees, shrubs and garden. Fields of sunflowers can be seen close by.

This one bedroom Gite has been renovated to an excellent standard. Includes a cosy living room with a large fireplace containing a traditional wood burner, Digital TV with DVD and video, the kitchen area includes fridge, microwave, toaster, double hot plates, extractor, stainless steel sink and kitchen units. The bedroom sleeps two people, and there is a newly extended bathroom with shower. The Gite is all on one level, also ideal for people with mobility difficulties.

The Gite set in two acres of land surrounded by breathtaking countryside. There is an assortment of seating in the surrounding gardens where you can relax and unwind in the shade or bask in the sun.

We have been awarded 1st Prize for the best garden in Ronsenac, and the much coverted 'PRIX CANTONAL' - for the best gardens 2009 of the 17 villages in our area.

The agence de Development et de Reservation Touristiques, has awarded Chez Fert Gite - 3 Stars for its very good standard of facilities and accomodation.

Lounge
The cosy lounge has a comfortable conservatory suite, and a large fireplace with a traditional wood burner. There is satellite TV, DVD player with an assortment of Films and many books and jigsaws are available.

Bedroom
Comfortable twin beds will give you an excellent nights sleep. Beautiful garden views can be seen through the bedroom windows.

Bathroom
The large spacious bathroom gives you plenty of room to move about and there is constant hot water.

Tranquil Surroundings
Your own secluded garden area allows you to relax, read a book, sunbathe, or dine out in the shaded area.

There is a supermarket and petrol station in Villebois Lavalette, that is less than 10 mins away. Small shops can be discovered in the village. The local village also has an excellent restaurant- Le Lavalette, where you will find the right atmosphere to enjoy excellent food and wines. There is a produce market in the covered mediaeval town square on Saturday & Wednesday mornings. In case of emergencies, a garage, bank, post office, vets, dentist, and doctors can be found close by. The local tourist office has free internet connection and lots of information about cycling, special walks around the countryside, and the best places for horse riding, canoeing, flying and fishing. The Charente has many lakes and rivers suitable for fishing. A fishing licence can be obtained from the local Marie.
There is a Handgliding and flying club close by, there are special walks, and chateaux. Cycles can be hired. There are lots of places to visit :-
Visit one of the many beautiful Charantais villages, Auberterre sur Dronne is voted one of the prettiest in France. It has its own beach with a lifeguard, canoeing for all abilities, and even a safari park.
The village square hosts some fine places to eat, inside or under a canopy of trees to provide shade. There are well- presented houses rising out of the chalk hillsides high above a bend in the River Dronne.
There are many cognac houses to visit including Cognac Otard, Hennessy or Martell which keeps 180,000 barrels in stock. Less than 10 minutes away, is the village of Villebois Lavalette, located on a prominent hill which has a chateau dating back to Roman times.

Tranquility in Paradise

This heading was used by one of our visitors last year to describe their stay with us.
Although we are new to gite letting, we try to make your stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Nothing is too much trouble.

Keen gardeners, we are working hard on the two acres of land surrounding the house and gite.
Winners of 2009 - Chez Fert won first Prize for the best garden out of 17 Villages. "Concours des Maison Fleuries" PRIX CANTONAL
Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds, and discuss gardening tips.

We often visit the local restaurant in Villebois, and enjoy an excellent ambiance from warm and friendly people and amazing food. They often have themed evenings such as Jazz and Rock 'n' Roll nights.

Overall we live in paradise, with no street lights, no burgular alarms, no noise from police cars or fire engines, just amazing views, including the night skies - full of stars, and excellent company.
