Vacation Rental Description
This stone cottage is one of five in the old vineyard proerty which for centuries had been a working farm, growing grapes for the wine and Cognac industries. The old barrels which were use to tread grapes, and all the equipment is still in the old wine barn "chai", there to see - a sort of living museum. This cottage is in a block of three, and has a very large grassy garden to the rear, and ample parking to the front. As with most old farms, the whole lot is enclosed in stone walls, which, along with the large iron gates, make it a very safe place to bring young children. The village can be explored by all ages on foot, and the roads are very quiet( like all rural France ). There are still four producers in the village, and the smell at harvest time of the newly pressed grapes , and the old tractors hauling ther precious cargos along the village streets is just amazing. The whole local area was once under Roman occupation (at around 20 AD ), and there are manyplaces to visit which show this, including an ampetheatre at Saintes which children love to go to, pretending to be gladiators. The grand Cognac houses in the town of Cognac itself are well worth visiting. Our pool is safely enclosed with a wall and gate, with child safety in mind. The pool is one metre deep in flat shallow end, and one and a half metres in the flat deep end. Not a pool for diving, but one we feel all our guests can comfortably use to have fun. We also have proper steps ( not a ladder) where you could just sit and put your toes in.

    • Cottage also includes iron, ironing board, fans in bedrooms. Terrace with table, chairs and parasol. Mature trees for shade. Shared pool with sun loungers sufficient for all guests.
