2 Bedroom Farmhouse in Matha

Our farmhouse is in a tranquil hamlet set in 3 acres of enclosed gardens with a beautifully landscaped swimming pool. We are situated between Cognac and Matha in a small village called Les Vignes (The Vines). The small town of Matha, which offers two restaurants, various shops, supermarkets, several banks and sports facilities, is only 5 minutes away by car. 
 
Cognac is only a 15 minute drive away with all the advantages a larger town brings i.e. many shops, restaurants, large supermarkets and of course nearly all of the worlds major Cognac houses. 
 
We are surrounded by vines and sunflowers. Our neighbours have been running a small family business for many generations producing Cognac, Pineau des Charentes and local wines. There is quite a range of local wildlife, buzzards, owls, hares, rabbits and deer. There are bakers at the next villages of Thors, Sonnac and Breville, which are just a few minutes away, there is also a baker who calls round 2 days of the week. Also in the village of Breville there is a small Restaurant and Bar.  
 
We are well within a days driving distance of the channel ports. St Malo being the nearest, closely followed by Caen, Le Havre and Cherbourg. You can fly from many U.K. airports to La Rochelle which is approximately 60 minutes away or Bordeaux or Poitiers which are both approximately 90 minutes away. 
 
Les Bouleaux is at one end of a Charentaise long house which is separated from the owner’s property by a large barn, assuring your privacy. It benefits from a sunny south facing position where you can sit on your private patio and watch the sunset with a glass of your favourite tipple. Inside you have spacious living accomodation for 4 to 6 people. 
 
The accomodation comprises a fully equipped kitchen with a gas cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer, a spacious lounge/dining area. The dining area has a table and chairs for six people and the lounge area has a sofa bed for two as well as a settee. There is also a very spacious shower room with a large shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. The shower room has a washing machine for your use. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Both bedrooms have wardrobes with ample hanging space for clothes etc. and dressing tables. There is another bathroom with a bath for people who prefer baths to showers and also may find a bath easier for very young children. It has a washbasin and a second toilet. 
 
There is a private patio which looks west straight into the setting sun across the open garden and onto the 8 x 5 metre swimming pool, which has its own patio area, where you can while away the hours quietly relaxing. The swimming pool is fenced for your safety. Patio furniture, sun loungers and a barbeque are provided. There are four adult bicycles and two childrens bicycles available for your use free of charge on a first come first serve basis.
