This Franco British couple have brought back to life this beautiful Charentais property. Beautifully renovated giving a relaxed 'home from home' feeling. If you want a refined, relaxing gourmet holiday by the pool or a bit more 'sporty' by using our sports facilities(jogging machine, cycling machine),or visiting the lovely region this is the place ! We are in an authentic Charentais farming village with it’s national heritage ’old stone church’, it’s farms and stone houses. This pretty village is a mile from the main roads, offering peace and quiet but also giving easy access to the places of touristic interest.
Only 55 mins from La Rochelle and Angouleme Airport. 80 mins to Poitiers and Bordeaux Airports. There you can find car hire.
The local towns are:
St Jean D’Angèly with it’s Historical Buildings and lovely market place, the Medieval Château of Dampierre, the beautiful beaches in Royan and Chatelaillon.
The Isles of Ré and Oléron. La Rochelle and it’s lovely old port, Rochefort and the Naval museum and ship yard (they are still building a galleon called the ’Hermione’). Saintes is a beautiful Gallo-Roman town with Gallo-roman Arenas, Abbey and river trips.
In Niort & Saintes there are Golf courses...a new Golf course 4 miles away is being built for 2011.
There are wine & Cognac visits, and I mustn’t forget the lovely boat trips through the Marais Poitevin ! And of course….
I mustn’t forget the regional cooking, it’s fantastic ! Roast duck and goose, foie gras, grilled and marinated fish & meat we do on the grill or BBQ, seafood and the local drinks (Pineau, wine and Cognac).
... and for those who want a nice steak with a wine sauce or mushroom and Sherry sauce !

We are a Bed and Breakfast with Gourmet Meals in an old French family home. Come and relax here and we do the cooking ! We do the cleaning !
There is a TV room with Sat TV and a coffee room where there is a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. You can keep your picnics in the fridge so you can go to the beach or inland for a day out.We can do washing for you @ 5€ for a 5kg wash.We lend the iron and table for ironing. We have air conditioning machines if the weather is very hot .Each room has a hairdryer, towels, linen ,bathrobes,beach towels,shampoo and shower gel,paper tissues.You can see more photos online.

A10 South from Poitiers/Paris exit at Niort and take direction Saintes/ St Jean d'Angely off the motorway.We are 27km south of Niort in Charentes Maritimes.You will find La Croix Comtesse on your left , if coming from the north.Go Past the village and when you come to a restaurant on your left, take this road ( direction AULNAY and COIVERT). Then Take the 2nd LEFT. We are down this little road, last house on the right. Turn right BEHIND the house and you will arrive at a big red gate with high old stone pillars.Secure parking is inside. If lost in the village, ask for the Doctor's house.
