We spent a magical two weeks at La Sonnelle this summer and enjoyed every minute of it. The house is perfect and so well equipped for a family holiday. It is maintained to a very high standard throughout and the facilities are superb – from boules sets; table tennis and tennis rackets for the adults, to the paddling pool, large garden and extensive supplies of toys for the kids. Enough to keep everyone happy!
The surrounding area is fantastic – we visited vineyards, beautiful coastal villages, and historic local towns. Jonzac itself is equally impressive with a lovely lake complete with kids’ facilities and a café, the old town centre and much-visited patisseries, the famous water park, Les Antilles and local events such as the evening market which again provided entertainment for everyone.
We had a wonderful time at La Sonnelle and can’t wait to return!

About the owner
I am a self employed community Consultant. I work for community organisations in the voluntary sector. I have 30 years experience of community work and earn a living from working for voluntary organisations in a range of roles. I bought the house in 2005 and have spent time making it my bolt hole. The house is not just a holiday rental but my home away from home. So the facilities are what I would expect myself and not just the bare basics. I feel at peace here and use it for rest and relaxation. The village is quiet but not remote, the local bar/restaurant is a must and Jonzac is close by when I want more. In short I love it and I hope you will too.
We loved the property immediately. In the middle of the village, by the 11th Century Church and the local primary school, it stood out as a traditional stone built longere with lots of potential. We feel we have reached that potential now. The micro climate of Charente Maritime, proximity of the coast, close but not too close to airports and a lovely village but with Jonzac nearby with everything we need. Shops, markets, supermarkets, restaurants, cinema and fabulous leisure facilities. The location allows us to take a week off and come here to recharge the batteries.
