Vacation Rental Description
We are situated in the triangle of the Roman towns of Saintes, St.Jean d'Angely and Cognac. The river Charente is in walking distance with opportunities for fishing, kayaking and picnics. There are lovely old Chateaux to visit. 
Most of the quaint villages have their weekly markets with fresh seasonal products, mussels and oysters. Try to visit some of the village fetes and sample the local aperitif Pineau. 
The seaside towns of Royan with wide sany beaches, Rochefort and La Rochelle are within easy reach. Also worthwhile 
is a visit to the Ile de Re with its many little fishing harbours.  
The gite is a character property with tiled floors and beamed ceilings and offers 3 double bedrooms (all with fans 
for the summer and electric heaters for winter), living room with woodstove, dining room,kitchen, bathroom, toilet and is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, Satellite TV and DVD player. There is a sunny patio with BBQ and fully enclosed garden overlooking forest.Linen and towels provided. The bread lady calls every morning where you can buy your fresh baguettes and the fishmonger and butcher call once a week. The gite has also disabled access with 2 of the bedrooms on the ground floor. 
We live approx. 20 minutes away from the gite but are retired and can be at hand if needed. We are members of the  
Brittany Ferries Travel Club and if you travel with them we can arrange a 15% discount for you on your travel costs.  
We welcome children and animals.We are also open to long-term lets (for example if you are looking for a house to buy) where we can negotiate a special monthly rental charge as our gite is suitable for habitation all year round.
