Vacation Rental Description
The house is a traditional "fermette" or little farm, in a quiet rural village, surrounded by farms, river, ponds, woods. It stands in its own grounds, with a grassy courtyard, outhouses and open barn to the front, and extensive grassy gardens to the rear. with views over open countryside.
The village is in the beautiful Valley of the Authie, one of the 7 Valleys region, and is close to several excellent restaurants which take pride in local cooking, an ancient Abbey and Mill. It is just 12 klms from Montreuil, a beautiful fully walled town with many wonderful restaurants and cultural facilities, 10 klms from Hesdin, another old town with beautiful Spanish style town hall, and 8 klms from little Crecy (famous for the battle).
The house has 5 bedrooms, 3 of which are doubles and 2 are twins, and there is a double bed settee for larger parties in one of the 2 large lounges. There is one bathroom upstairs and one down and a fully fitted kitchen installed in 2010. Throughout the character has been maintained in the timbered beams in every room, and the tiled floors. It is made cosy in the winter by electric radiators and two Godin multifuel stoves, and cool in the summer by French windows and stable doors.
The original wing was extended in 2005 by the conversion of the former dairy into a lovely new wing, doubling the size of the house. Outside the gardens and patios front and rear allow for games, barbecues, sunbathing and watching the animals in the neighbouring fields in complete tranquillity.
