The house is situated in the Vendee region of Western France with the Atlantic on its Western Coast, La Rochelle to the South and Nantes and Brittany to the North.
The village of La Caillère is located on the borders of the Vendee and the Charante-maratime between Chantonnay and Fontenay le Comte with the flat plains to the south and the rolling hills of the bocage to the north. To the east you have the pretty villages of Mervent and Vouvant nestled in the large surrounding forest and to the south east the protected nature reserve area of the Marais Poitevin with beautiful picture postcard villages in the Venice Verte (green venice).Vineyards in La Caillère and Pissotte providing tours and wine tasting, just 5 minutes away.
Mervent - Vouvant . Beautiful forest area offering magnificent views and activities including boating, pedlows and nearby man-made beach and picnic areas. Mervent Zoo, Pierre brun and nearby adventure centre.
La Rochelle. This historic port town is just 45 minutes away and has excellent shopping, seafood restaurants and beaches.
Ile de Ré. This beautiful island is just 50 minutes way and is well worth spending a day, with magnificent beaches, restaurants and walks.
There are many other beach resorts that are all within easy reach, including: La Tranche sur mer , L'Aiguillon sur mer , La Faute sur mer , Les Sables d'Olonne and Chatelaillon Plage.
