At the turn of the twentieth century Le Vieux Café was the hub of village life as it used to be the local restaurant & café. It has undergone many changes over the years and is now laid out as a comfortable three-bedroom holiday home - perfect for family holidays.

The house contains many of its original features, along with all home comforts such as the newly installed fully equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave & conventional oven. In the living room you will find a TV, DVD, UK & French satellite channels and a laptop with free secure WiFi internet access & email facilities.

The house can sleep up to eight people, plus a baby, with a large double bedroom, two twin rooms and a metal-framed sofa bed available in the living room. Linen and towels are included in with the rental price, but please bring your own pool towels.

The master bedroom has lovely views towards the village church and the two twin rooms each overlook the swimming pool, gardens and have views to the Marais beyond.

If you have a young child, there is a cot, high chair, changing mat and other essentials for your visit.

There are two bathrooms contained in the Le Vieux Café – one with a shower on the ground floor, the other with a bath and overhead shower on the first floor.

The garden is set on four levels with the top level containing the large courtyard for parking, a grassy area for relaxation and a boules court for your amusement. A gentle slope then takes you down to the enclosed 12m x 7m heated swimming pool where you can relax in the sun. For younger children we also have a paddling pool & lots of inflatables.

Beyond the swimming pool and down a few steps you’ll find our organic vegetable garden, where only the hardworking should venture! Beyond the vegetable garden lies the extensive lower garden where the children can run & play in safety. There is a picnic bench amongst the fruit trees, and in the evening you can watch the sun set over the Marais and listen out for the extensive range of birds that live in the gardens – including the Barn Owls!

The games room is situated opposite the pool area and is available for all guests to use during their stay. You will find many amusements here, such as table tennis, table football, board games, books, DVDs, and a TV area with Xbox 360 & arcade games consoles. Paints, pencils & crayons are also supplied, and children can pin their works on the ‘Wall of Fame’.

There is also extensive tourist information provided in the games room.

New for 2010, we have installed a gym, complete with rowing machine, 2 bikes, cross-trainer and weights machine.

There are over 25km of sandy beaches only 20 minutes away. The coastal towns of L’Aiguillon, La Tranche & La Faute are nearby, with Les Sables D’Olonne further up the coast.

We are only 8km from Luçon with its great weekly market on Saturdays, and many bars & restaurants.

The Puy du Fou theme park is only 60 minutes away, where you will be transported back in time to the Roman, Viking or Medieval eras. In the summer the park stays open into the evening for a fantastic sound & light show.

Futuroscope, in Poitiers, is also only a 90 minute drive away, where you can experience the world of 3D cinema & theme park rides.

The Marais Poitevin is only 60 minutes away - The famous ‘Venise Verte’ with its miles of canals and waterways. You can hire a boat at Coulon, before sampling the local specialties in the many restaurants scattered along the canal banks.

The bustling harbour of La Rochelle is just 40 minutes away.

Nantes airport is a 1 hour drive away, and La Rochelle airport is only 45 minutes drive away. Both airports are served by many of the budget airlines. If you are arriving by ferry, please ask us about discounts that may be available. Prices are per week and include all linens and towels, except pool towels. In order to secure your booking we ask that you firstly check for availability, then complete the online Booking Form on our website & finally send a 30% non-refundable deposit for the total cost of the holiday. A £100/€130 Security deposit is required & this should be sent along with the final payment 8 weeks prior to the start of your holiday. Cancellation prior to final payment will only incur the loss of deposit; cancellation with less than 8 weeks to go will incur full loss of payment if we are unable to rent out to gite to other people. Payment can be made in Sterling or Euros either by cheque or direct bank transfer.
