The cottage is roomy for two and has been renovated sympathetically and maintains many original features such as the lovely tufa stone fireplace, original floors with terracotta tiles and oak timbers.
There is much to do in this lovely part of France. The Loire Valley is world famous for its chateaux and vineyards and rich cultural history.
The fortress chateaux of Angers and Saumur are only 30mins away. Not much further is the amazing Abbey at Fontervraud where the tombs of Richard the Lionheart, Henry 11 and Eleanor of Aquitaine are a reminder of the close historical links with Englqnd.
The highly praised conservation zoo at Doué-la-Fontaine, troglodyte villages, the Museum of Wine at St Lambert de Lattay and the Mushroom Museum on the way to Chinon are all within an hour's easy drive.
For garden lovers the Japanese Garden at Maulevrier south of Cholet, the exotic medicinal herb gardens at Chemillé and the famous Rose Garden at Doué-la-Fontaine are all worth a visit. Further afield are the chateaux of Chaumont and Villandry with their wonderful landscaped gardens.
Paris is only 90mins on the TGV and Futurescope, near Poitiers, is the same by road.
The small towns of Vihiers and Chemillé are less than 15mins by car and both have plenty of amenities: banks with cash machines, outdoor markets and excellent super-markets, restaurants, swimming pools, leisure activities and events in spring, summer and autumn.
The Loire Valley is one of the most versatile wine-producing regions in Franc with many speciality wines. The luscious sweet white wines from the Coteaux de Layon are produced here in the local vineyards of the Layon valley.
Wine tasting can be fun and we are happy to arrange for you to meet local wine producers who always love to share their knowledge.
You can leisurely cycle into the village for fresh bread, buy moules from the travelling fish man in the square on Thursdays and enjoy a pichet of local wine at the bar before heading back.
If you want to eat out there is plenty of choice - from good value routiers to chic restaurants.
Alternatively, Sit in the garden and listen to the birdsong, relax and enjoy the gentle pace of Angevine life.

The living room has a pretty garden view with dining table and chairs, easy chairs, sideboard, sofa bed, music centre, books and games etc.
There is a well-equipped kitchen for keen cooks! Gas cooker, fridge, microwave and plenty of crocks.
The stairs lead up to the grenier, originally the roofspace used to store grain, which has been converted to make a very attractive double bedroom with double and single bed. Shower room and a separate W.C.
Garden chairs, loungers, 2 bicycles and a bbq are all provided.
Linen hire is available on request and use of washing machine by arrangement.
Rental includes water, gas and electricity.

You may want to visit some Loire Chateaux and there is plenty of choice:
Brissac Quincé, Saumur, Angers and Montreuil-Bellay are all well within an hour from us. Le Lude, Ussé, Chinon, Azay-le Rideau are about an hour and a half. Chenonceau, Amboise, Chaumont, Vilandry and others are a bit further.
The conservation Zoo at Doué La Fontaine is a must! Everyone who goes loves it!
Local gardens: The Japanese garden at Maulévrier. Planned around a peaceful lake to represent the changing seasons and the progression of living things, exotic maples, magnolias, flowering cherries, azaleas. Good Bonsai collection. Raku earthenware workshop.
Rose Gardens of Doué la Fontaine. Le Chemin de la Rose is a super rose garden and well worth a visit.
There are many wonderful roses to see, lakes, pleasant sitting areas. Easy parking.
Garden of medicinal plants at Chemillé. Known as the capital of medicinal herbal plants since the middle ages.
