'We had a wonderful holiday in your beautiful home. The location is absolutely perfect... so secluded, such fantastic views across idyllic countryside; and the house is everything anyone could wish for.'
'Lovely house. We had a really relaxing and enjoyable stay with all creature comforts.'
'The internet hardly does justice to the glorious views and to the wonderful silence and sense of peace. Except for a market or two and a few good meals, we were largely content to lie around and lounge and loaf. We come fairly often to that part of France, and this was by far the nicest of the places we've stayed'
We bought the house in 2001 and spent two years completely restoring it (there were no bathrooms, the windows and shutters were broken and there were swallows nesting in the upstairs rooms). Having been dark and beyond filthy, the house is now light and airy, with a calm and tranquil ambience. The views of the surrounding farmland, vines, woods, hills and valleys are stunning and if you are lucky enough to get a view of the Pyrenees when the clouds lift off them, they are breathtaking.
We love sitting on the terrace and watching the birdlife. The nightingales sing all night in early summer and are followed by golden orioles and hoopoes. Birds of prey swoop across the backdrop of the woods opposite. We also have badger setts on our property and you may catch a glimpse of local deer, hares and sangliers (wild boar).
We have our own orchard, from which our guests can enjoy the fruit, and we are also surrounded by an abundance of wild figs, plums, cherries and blackberries. Our lovely gardener, Thierry, will bring guests fruit and vegetables from his own garden in season.
The house is very family friendly and many of our guests have met up there with friends and family from around the world. Everybody loves the swimming pool and some people hardly move from it!
The purpose-built BBQ, in addition to the very well-equipped kitchen, makes cooking fun and easy.
The house is also very cosy in winter, with excellent central heating and a large log fire in the sitting room.
