This large, beautifully presented gite in an exceptionally pretty stone house ("to die for" according to visitors) was once a blacksmith's home and workplace. It is set in a tranquil village 4 kms from the stunningly beautiful 13thC bastide town of Cordes-sur-Ciel, today also a thriving artistic community. Without doubt this is one of the loveliest and most interesting areas of France.

The spacious accommodation, comprising the entire self-contained ground floor of a film director's home, has two double bedrooms and one single. One double room is extremely large with a gorgeous view of the front patio and gardens; the second looks onto a private rear terrace; the single bedroom is accessed from the salon or the very large reception hall, off which are a separate w.c. and a bath/shower room. The spacious salon, with a terrace at each end, has a tiled kitchen (with double sinks, gas & electric cookers, microwave, washing machine, fridge, freezer, dishwasher), plus an attractive dining area, and a sitting area with two sofas, comfortable armchairs and a large stone fireplace. Original tiled floors and beams. The house has a romantic French-style front patio, featuring low box hedges and pot plants with tables and chairs, plus a large garden, with table and seating, that includes shrubs, flowers, stunning English roses and a shaded patio area. Additional garden furniture available.

Easy access to the fascinating bastide circuit (of which Cordes is the jewel), excellent pool complex (5 minutes away), enormous aquatic centre (20 mins), tennis, wonderful walks, lake, rivers, woods, kayaking, horse riding, exploring gorges, Cathar France, local vineyards, excellent art tuition, the beautiful city of Toulouse, historic Albi with its famous cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum, and the busy market town of Gaillac. Gaillac wines are rapidly gaining the recognition they deserve - and the ideal time to get to know them is whilst watching the sun go down from one of the terraces or garden of your beautiful holiday home.
Local food shops in Cordes are plentiful, but Cordes weekly market is excellent for local produce, as are the many other open markets nearby. There are good restaurants and plenty to see and do without straying too far. Detailed information on the region awaits your arrival.

Prices are for 1 - 4 people per week. Add £35 per person per week for each additional person to a maximum of 6 people.
Payment by cheque in sterling or euros please.
A completed booking from - available by e-mail from rosslynfilm@btinternet.com - plus a non-refundable deposit of 50% secures the booking.
Final payment is due a minimum of eight weeks before the start of the holiday.
Electricity is included from June to mid-September, but a fuel charge may be made in cold weather at other times of year. Logs available by prior arrangement only.
