Dating back to about 1750, but upgraded to modern standards, Le Presbytere was formerly the home of the priest of St Vincent. The ground floor has a 10x5 metre salon with stunning fireplace and ample sitting and dining room for up to 6 adults plus two children.This room has a TV, with UK satellite TV and a DVD player. The kitchen is big enough for family meals, with all modern cooking facilities. There is a toilet and shower room at this level. The lovely wooden staircase leads to a landing off which are three very roomy bedrooms, two of which have views to both elevations.Bedroom one is a lovely airy room with a double bed. Bedroom two is still over 16 square metres, with twin beds. The third bedroom is 20m2, with twin beds and a bunk bed - just the thing for kids. A double bathroom, with bath tub, bidet and twin basins and separate WC are also on this floor.The balcony is ideal for star gazing or just looking at the scenery. 
The kitchen opens onto a small terrace, for sunny intimate breakfasts, or evenings watching sunsets and stars . It leads to a larger terrace, off which are the extensive cellars, with bikes, dart board, barbecue etc, plus a shower and toilet; ideal for the pool. Also on the terrace is the games room, with table tennis. The terrace leads to the pool, 10x5 metres, heated if needed, and protected by its removable cover. This meets strict French safety laws and also cuts out harmful UV rays. 
In the unlikely event of needing to be heated, Le Presbytere has efficient central heating to all rooms; ideal for out of season visits. Set in a very rural area, the house is very secure. Should you feel the need to park in a secure area your car can be brought inside the large gates - though most visitors are content to park in the off road drive. 
The garden is entirely fenced, making it secure for children and for small dogs if you wish to brimg them. 
Set in hamlet with 3 other houses, Le Presbytere is just 2 kms from Varen, a medieval riverside village, which has most commerces you would need: restaurant, small general store, bakery, chemist, bar, hairdresser, garden centre (for charcoal, dog food etc!) and a homely weekly market. 
In Varen 2 kms from the village centre is the railway station of Lexos, on the main line from Toulouse, affording easy access to la ville rose and from there to the rest of France. 
Within 20kms (12 miles) of Le Presbytere are several fascinating and historic villages, from St Antonin Noble Val, via Najac and Cordes sur Ciel to more homely and traditional villages like Laguepie. These offer markets - some more touristy than others - with local produce and wine; restaurants from transport cafe to Michelin starred; concerts and spectacles. But if you just want to chill out, Le Presbytere is ideal. Set in really beautiful countryside, under blue skies, with a glass (or two) of local rosé you can just get away from it all. And why not - you've earned it!

The owners will provide basic cooking and cleaning materials and all linen and towels. These will be changed if requested for rentals of two weeks or more. There is a cot available, plus high chair if requested. The house has two bikes which are to be shared with our other house, La Bergerie. Similarly we have two family friendly canoes, moored by the Aveyron at Varen . These are for your use at no extra cost, and at your risk.

The Aveyron gorge is ideal for canoeing and kayaking - usually quite gentle in high season, but in stunning scenery.There are many hire companies arond St Antonin and Najac. You can also hire bikes and go horse riding. For the more daring there is the possibility of hang gliding lessons or rock climbing and if you hate heights, try the caves at Le Bosc, St Antonin. 
There is a 9 hole golf course at Villefranche de Rouergue (35kkm) and a good 18 hole course at Albi (40kms). 
Walking is well catered for by the network of grande and petite randonnees (footpaths)in the area and the flowers are wonderful in spring (especially wild orchids). Bird watchers will rarely be disappointed by the variety of birds, especially the bigger birds of prey. 
If you like a day out to the city, Albi is has history, the cathedral and the Toulouse Lautrec museum; well worth the trip. Toulouse a vibrant regional capital,has history, shopping and superb cuisine

A refundable deposit of 25% is payable with the booking. Full payment to be made 8 weeks prior to arrival, plus a maintenance deposit of £175 (200 euros), refundable within 7 days. Any cancellation after the 8 week deadline will not attract any refund of the rental deposit. Payment in GB pounds (or Euros by agreement)to be in sterling or euro cheque, or by bank transfer. Sorry, but no credit cards. Off peak lets requiring heating will be charged 50 euros per week; pool heating will be extra at 20 euros per week. Lets to two people only may be eligible for a discount.
