1 Bedroom Houseboat in Moissac

Da Vinci is a British, Ex-Admiralty harbour launch, Circa 1940's. We have just finished completely restoring her, she is permanently moored in the pretty port of Moissac, Tarn et Garonne, France

Although "Da Vinci" is stationary, it is still a great pleasure to sit back and relax on her deck and watch the daily life of the canal go on around you. Should you prefer the views of the river Tarn, we can easily move "Da Vinci" for you, (weather and river conditions permitting) which is a wilder and more isolated experience. There are amazing sunset views, with the elegant Pont Napolean and the Moulin de Moissac (a former water mill and now a luxury hotel), in the background. Around the port where "Da Vinci" is moored, is a very quiet residential area. Access is only for house and boat owners; it is easy to park and free.

The deck area on any boat, not just "Da Vinci`s" is it`s featured attraction. Whether you choose the canal or river mooring, the views are fantastic. The play of light and the reflections on the water, boats,ducks and jumping fish all contribute to what makes living on a boat so special.The deck area is approx 17m², we provide a wooden table and chairs for the alfresco meals, 2 large parasols and 2 sun loungers for your comfort. The wheelhouse gives the same views as the deck area, through the 360° windows. It has a bar table and 2 folding chairs. It also provides the main access to the kitchen and cabin areas of the boat via a few steep steps.

Walking

There are walks available for all levels. Along the canal, the path is flat and well maintained and stretches for miles in both directions. Along the river there is also a path on both sides which goes for a short way and is very pretty. It is possible to join up with the canal at the aqueduct and make a circular walk. Another beautiful and easy walk is around the lake at St Nicolas. It has an easy level path and has beautiful views over the lake on one side with orchards, farms and woods on the other. The bird life is spectacular to see and occasionally you may catch a glimpse of a coypu or a red squirrel.Cycling

Gliding

(All year round, but depending on the weather).

A short drive or cycle ride away, on the edge of the village of Gandalou, is an airfield with a gliding club. It is possible to book a flight with a trained glider pilot, who will take you up for around ½ hour. You will need to pre-book this in advance.
