Situated between Toulouse and Cahors, 18c Manoir Les Gaillardoux offers style, comfort, space and privacy in own 3 acre park and orchard with heated pool, overlooking the surrounding country side in the elevated Causses du Quercy Blanc. An area with spectacular landscape, rich in gastronomy, history, prehistoric caves... and a well maintained aerodrome for private flyers. There is plenty to do and see, or you may simply choose to relax by the pool or under the trees... A memorable holiday awaits you in this authentic corner of rural France... but be warned: you are likely to run out of time long before you have run out of ideas!

The Causses du Quercy are an elevated limestone plateau with extended views over a rolling hilly and wooded landscape. They enjoy a dry climate with mild spring and autumn weather and relief from extreme summer heat.

Manoir Les Gaillardoux consists of a 17th and 18th century stone built main house and a number of stone outbuildings: a pillared coach house, a barn and a round stone pigeonnier, all arranged around a large courtyard planted with flowering bushes and specimen trees. The Manoir is generously furnished indoors and outdoors for 12 guests. It features a large partly walled heated outdoor swimming pool. The spacious terrace outside the dining room is equipped for outdoor eating in comfort and boasts an Australian “outdoor kitchen” barbecue and views of the park and beyond. The Manoir has been recently restored inside to high standards, so you can enjoy beautifully equipped and comfortable accommodation alongside the traditional features of a French stone built country manor, with spacious rooms.

Equally suited for get-togethers with family or friends or for intimate parties, Manoir Les Gaillardoux offers space and privacy, and can accommodate up to 12 guests in style and comfort.

Plenty to do and see...
Only 16 km away, the city of Cahors, by the river Lot, features several examples of medieval architecture, including a well preserved medieval cathedral, and is a centre for the wine growing area (Malbec). It has modern supermarkets but also traditional cafes, street markets and plenty of good family restaurants.

The Lot Region is an area with a rich history, a long standing gastronomic tradition and a rare authentic French atmosphere: You can meet the local farmers on market days, practice water sports in the rivers, fly at the near-by private aerodrome of Lalbenque, experience the breathtakingly wild landscape of the Causses, savour local recipes in rural restaurants or sample top gastronomy in famous chateaux, visit medieval villages... or play “petanque” at the Manoir and enjoy a candlelight dinner on the terrace.

The Manoir is generously furnished and equipped for up to 12 discriminating guests. Outdoors: Heated sw/pool has independent shower/WC + loungers. Spacious terrace+ Australian BBQ for outdoor eating. Master Bedroom with dressing room, boudoir, en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi/shower, wc. 5 further bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms with double washbasins and WC, a choice of single/double beds. All beds made before guests arrive, changed weekly during stay. Also provided: Hairdryers, bed linen, generous supply of hand/bath/pool towels, weekly cleaning. 4 reception rooms. Large fireplace. Central heating. Fully equipped Gourmet kitchen with 2 dishwashers, American fridge-freezer, 2 ovens. Laundry: 2 washers/1 dryer. Weekly cleaning of kitchen/bathrooms. Satellite TV/DVD, music centre. Thinly populated Quercy is well known for its picturesque medieval villages, many with cafés, restaurants and open air markets to explore. Spectacular sculptured rocky landscapes awaits to be discovered. The Lot river and smaller ones like the shallow Célé attract water sports lovers. Local aerodrome and flying club. Limestone geology. Deep caving. Historical sites of cave-paintings. Rich Architectural heritage and cultural activities are also present. You can see many intact spectacular cliff-top fortresses and historical remains, including whole medieval villages. Historical links with England started with Eleanore of Aquitaine. Deep links with Cathar history. Numerous local festivals and cultural activities throughout the year.

2012 rate: 5,250 euros per week. No price increase for 2012. Book now and take advantage of the favourable exchange rate. The weekly rate includes cleaning of the interior of the Manoir before arrival, and weekly cleaning on Saturdays during stays of multiple week duration, as well as bed linen and bath and pool towels, which are changed weekly. Holiday rental fee + 1,000 euros refundable deposit against breakages are payable 50% on booking / 50% 6 weeks prior to arrival. Further details on request. Payment in euros by bank transfer to French bank account. Manoir Les Gaillardoux guests benefit from specially negotiated fixed rates with a local taxi firm to take them to and back from restaurants and airports, and are welcomed at a number of gastronomic restaurants in the area. In July, 2011, our group of family and friends spent two very happy weeks at this lovely house in a beautiful and unspoiled part of France. All of the rooms are large, well furnished and equipped, including the kitchen. There are two large refrigerators and two automatic washing machines. Most importantly the beds are comfortable. Our party of 8 had more than enough room for everyone never to feel at all crowded. Overlooking the garden and the fields beyond is a spacious patio, equipped with two big tables, huge umbrellas, and a first class gas barbeque. At the front there is a large swimming pool. The Manoir, about ten minutes south of beautiful Cahors, is situated in bucolic splendour on a large property looking out upon working farms and the hilltop town of Montdoumerc. Scores of wine estates are nearby, many offering tastings and restaurants. Many great sights and weekly markets are within an easy drive. We all had a great time.
