Vacation Rental Description
Les Glycines is a stone farm house on 3500m2 in the L-shaped architectural style prevalent in this region. It has been renovated and contains all the modern amenities. 
 
The house has a gated courtyard bounded by the house/barn on two sides, a small dependence opposite and the connecting walls. The living quarters, about 120 m2 are on the ground floor and are accessed by an entrance in the middle. The upstairs has not yet been finished and is not used. To one side are the sitting/dining room and the kitchen. On the other side are two bedrooms. In the middle, is the entrance hall and, behind it, the bathroom with bath/shower and washing machine and the separate WC. Please see our website www.glycines.net for more details and a floor plan. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities: dishes, cutlery, cookware, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, microwave oven, gas cooker, dishwasher and linens.  
 
Burg is a primarily agricultural village of about 250 people. It is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 350 meters. It is a quiet location that makes a good starting point for tours in the beautiful Pyrenees. 
 
The historic cities of Pau and Lourdes are about an hour's drive. If you manage to be at Lourdes during one of the pilgrimages, the experience can be moving. The region has limestone plateaus where caves developed. Many of these caves provided shelter for the prehistoric inhabitants of the area. The caves at Gargas with many wall-paintings is one of a number of interesting such sites in the immediate area that are open for visits. The many castles, abbeys and monasteries include the nearby church and former monastery of St Bernard de Comminges which has been beautifully restored. The town is listed as one of the prettiest in France. For breathtaking views of the entire Pyrenees chain, take the cable car to the summit of the Pic Du Midi (2877m). We suggest a number of drives with optional hikes through the beautiful mountains. If you are a cycling enthusiast (and in better condition than we are), you might try a few of the nearby mountain roads taken by the Tour the France, but less intensive challenges are available. The nearby Parc des Pyrenees offers beautiful hikes. There are a half dozen public golf courses in the general area, the nearest one in Lannemezan, about 15km away. There will inevitably be festivals in various area towns in the summer that are interesting and fun, the tourist information offices in Tournay and Lannemezan are good sources of up-to-the-minute information.  
 
There are town markets somewhere in the area almost every day and these are interesting and enjoyable places to get your fresh vegetables or taste a new cheese.

The living room has a new 42" (107cm) HD LCD TV and the satellite dish will bring in the four BBC and four ITV channels as well as an array of other English-speaking channels. We have a modest collection of DVD movies and music on CDs for your entertainment.

If you cancel, we will refund your payment minus a 10% re-advertising charge if the property is re-rented for that period. Payment is via wire transfer to Barclays Bank (UK) or you may use a credit card (via PayPal) for which there is regretfully a 4% surcharge (that PayPal charges us).
