This is a beautiful part of France, it's quite rare to find a spacious and well appointed 12th century village house with a private pool at the centre of a small, picturesque, medieval hilltop village with restaurants, a Chateau and wonderful views!! 'Le Paradis' is decorated and furnished to a very high standard, amenities include; 2 salons, 4 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private 'salt water' pool, full array of patio furniture, stunning covered terrace, all the modern conveniences, central heating, wood fire and more. All linen and towels, plus swimming towels are included. 'Le Paradis' is the ideal luxury holiday rental in which to relax, unwind and get away from the stress of modern day living! 
 
Location... 
Located at the heart of the medieval hilltop village of Lavardens, this well-appointed house dating back to the 12th century enjoys wonderful views. Lavardens is a small listed village of 114 inhabitants with a general store, a restaurant, a bar/brasserie, and a military-style château which features frequent exhibitions - ALL JUST 50 METRES FROM THE HOUSE !!! There are also several working artisans studios adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the village.  
 
Interior... 
A large entrance hall with exposed stone walls and terracotta tiled floors opens onto a spacious well-equipped kitchen with a dining area, a living room with an original Napoleon I fireplace and a less formal sitting room which leads onto a large balcony with wonderful views over the garden, gently rolling countryside. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a private balcony and en suite shower room with wc.  
 
An impressive original stone staircase leads up to the first floor which contains a large mezzanine with a sofa, a separate wc, one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms (one twin has zip/linkable beds) of which two have views of open countryside and one of the village Château. There is also a large family bathroom with both bath and a separate shower.  
 
Exterior... 
The house is located on the street leading up to the Château. The self-contained, enclosed garden of 1300sqm which has panoramic views and mature trees for additional shade, is accessed via a small lane. The garden is spacious and contains a fenced pond with a pontoon (also fenced). The 10 x 4m 'salt water' swimming pool with roman steps and an adjacent shower, is surrounded by a spacious sunbathing patio with loungers, next to which is a large covered terrace (11m x 5m) containing a changing room, sink, fridge, dining area and barbeque. 
 
Nearby... 
At Castéra-Verduzan (9km) there are tennis courts, bike hire, horse riding, a leisure lake with a beach where one can, swim,fish and wind-surf. A thermal spa and casino can also be found here. The area enjoys many village fêtes and night markets in the summer, with day markets in most of the villages and towns nearby. The beautiful town of Auch with its impressive cathedral and very good restaurants is just 20km away. There are 18 hole golf courses in Auch (20km) and Eauze (41km). Fleurance (15km). 
 
In 2010, for music lovers we have the world renowned, Country and Western Festival in Mirande (13 - 18 July) and Jazz in Marciac (01-17 August)

    'Le Paradis' is indeed a 'heavenly' spot...

    'Le Paradis' is indeed a 'heavenly' spot, it has everything we want from a holiday in France.
    The house is full of character, beautifully renovated and maintained. The garden and pool are extremely comfortable and wonderfully situated with views of the countryside and the castle...but beware...they are so good, you can't help but idle your time away there every day!!
    Lavardens is a very picturesque village with fascinating corners and lovely countryside to stroll in. We felt really lucky to find this 'unspoilt' corner of France last year and couldn't resist coming back this year...It won't be our last visit!!
