2 Bedroom Gite in Vallée du Douctouyre

A long time ago, in the High Pennines, we used to let a cottage attached to our house - it seems like another life. Now we find ourselves in SW France and a very similar location, again providing a holiday location. That is not all we do here - we moved in order to provide a peaceful location for people to come for recuperation, as a retreat, to find themselves again. And we also have a gîte simply for holidays.

It goes without saying that we are in a secluded rural setting on the edge of the ancient forests of Ariège, where you can step outside your door and walk up the path onto the ridge above and look out over nothing but the foothills of the Pyrenees, covered in trees, and the mountains beyond. There are deer and wild boar and horses in the forest, and buzzards and kites and booted eagles overhead. But there are also small towns and historic castles to visit - Mirepoix with its 13th century 'cloistered' centre, Foix with its impregnable castle, the Cathar fortress of Montségur; and there are markets, lake and forest adventure activities and restaurants at a short distance.

Our guests have walked up mountains, cycled hill routes, swum in lakes, kayaked down the Ariège river... or just sat around and enjoyed the peace. We hope you will too.
