Vacation Rental Description
St Victor du Fau, a luxury 17th century Farmhouse brought into the 21st century by its present owners, offers its guests very comfortable accommodation, in a rural, peaceful location, yet only 5kms from the large and important town of Pamiers, the economic capital town of the Ariege, 20 minutes from Foix and 25 minutes from Mirepoix. Located in the hills, 5kms above Pamiers in an area the locals call "le terrefort" (highground), at the end of a private 1km driveway. Secluded in its own valley, with wonderful views over open farmland and hills beyond in 50 acres of grounds (fields and woodland on a national park. Sleeps up to 4 people and each window has a view!
Very large kitchen diner with French farmhouse oak table to seat 4 people easily, fully equipped with a large amount of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils, including Le Creuset pots and pans. The utility room just off the kitchen houses a washing machine, dishwasher, large fridge freezer with ice-maker and cold water (mains fed). At one end of the kitchen is an area with a sofa and coffee table plus a downstairs WC with sink.
Large sitting room with 2 large sofas, 2 armchairs, 42 inch plasma TV with English satellite TV, DVD & VCR player. At the other end of the sitting room is a dining area with large mahogany table and seating for 4, plus an enormous bookshelve with an extensive collection of books for our guests to read.
Upstairs there are 2 bedroom - one with kingsize double antique French bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and private balcony with chairs. The luxurious shower room is up another short flight of stairs with walk-in shower with "rain-shower" head, sink and a WC.
There is also a twin bedroom with 2 single adult sized beds which can either be put together or separated. There is a wardrobe, large chest of drawers. There are two large windows overlooking the swimming pool and back garden/to the woods and across the valley.
Outside is a 12m x 6m swimming pool with sunloungers and sun-umbrellas for each of our guests. There is a Spanish stone buil BBQ and a large washing line to dry clothes. At the front of the house there is a south facing terrace with large table and sun umbrella and seating for 4 people.
The farmhouse is ideally situated to visit many areas of historic cathar chateaus, lovely towns and villages, plus there are a variety of things for children to do in the area, including go-karting, tree adventure parks and kayaking. All the tourist information for the area is supplied in the farmhouse.
The historic town of Foix is a 20 minute drive, Mirepoix the very pretty medieval with couverts over pavements, about 30 minutes, please there is a plethrer of fresh produce farmers markets for each day of the. This is a wonderful part of France which is virtually as it was back in the 1950's.
Bedlinen, bath and beach towels are all included in the price of the Farmhouse per week.

Wifi enabled - guests must bring their own computer. Ceiling fans in bedroom. American fridge with cold water, ice and slush maker. Range electric oven and 5 burner gas hob. Private balcony off bedroom, walk in shower - kingsize antique French bed. Private peaceful location on 50 acres of land with beautiful views.

- Nearest Airport : Toulouse or Carcassonne at 60 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Train Station : Pamiers at 5 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : Pamiers at 5 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: The Farmhouse can be reached by either Toulouse or Carcassonne airports. British Airways, Air France, Jet2.com, BMi Baby, Flybe, Air Lingus and Easyjet fly into Toulouse. Ryanair flies into Carcassonne from Ireland, Liverpool, Stansted etc. Both airports are about an hours drive. The airports of Beziers, Pau (Ryanair) are about 1.5-2 hrs, plus others - please see our personal website. Ferry port of St Malo is about 9.5 hours and Calais about 10 hours. There is a small airport nearby which has a landing strip to accommodate private Learjets.

Owners Profile
A home from home experience in the heart of SW France
We moved to the Ariege department in SW France back in June 2001 and have been running a gite and B&B business since then. Before arriving in France we both worked in people related industries and have travelled extensively. We can relate well to people from all walks of life and wish to make our guests stay in all our accommodation a very happy and memorable one.
The Farmhouse is large and comfortable - the appearance can be disceptive as the house goes back a long way. The length of both the kitchen/breakfast room and sitting/dining room is 10 metres long and 5 metres wide. The furniture is of a high standard and the house has many original features.
L'Ecurie the one bedroom apartment is on the ground floor and therefore recommended for people who may have mobility problems - there aren't any stairs to climb. There are also many original features and although not as large as the Farmhouse is cozy and inviting even in the depths of winter.
We have a very good local knowledge of the area, restaurant information, tourist sites and a little bit of the history of the area.
We provide sumptious evening meals made from local produce and wine and are waiting to welcome our guests, who have in the past come from all over the world. This area is rich in Cathar history and is the "real" France. Don't just take our word for it, come and see it for yourself!
