Vacation Rental Description
"Flowerpots" Maison de L'Oraille, is believed to be the original stone farmhouse in the hamlet of L'Oraille, in the village of Le Mesnil Garnier, near Villedieu les Poeles. In our explorations we have found that we are ideally placed for our guests and their visits to all the attractions of Normandy.
We are just a 10 minute drive from the famous copper town of Villedieu les Poeles, where you can browse around the Bell Foundry or the local shops of copper or pewter. We are within easy access of the Normandy Landing Beaches, the enigmatic Mont St.Michel, and Avranches and a little further afield, Bayeux and its historic tapestry. In the other direction try Granville with its Marina and fishing port. Here is probably the best place to sample the local seafood. In season, Moules et Frites are a favourite! We are lucky to have one of the most gorgeous sandy beaches within a 20 minute drive, at St. Martin de Brehal, and yet we are in the midst of the beautiful Normandy countryside. For the children, there is the popular Zoological Park at Champrepus, which is just a 5-10 minute drive.
If you prefer to stay closer to home, our village of Le Mesnil Garnier we have our "M.G Bar" and epicerie which is within an energetic walking distance from us, where guests are can stop and have a coffee, do a bit of shopping or have a glass of wine. There are lots of country lanes to explore around us, and you will find " Flowerpots" at the end of one of these leafy lanes.
To introduce you to "Flowerpots" we have:-
The Barn Suite which is an annex to the Main House and provides our guests with exclusive, private accommodation which includes a lounge. Access is either through an old fashioned arched door from the The Dining Room of the Main House or through the French Doors from the courtyard at the front of the house. This allows our guests to come and go as they please. In the Lounge, there is a Francklin style wood burner and two large sofas to relax on. An open staircase leads to the part galleried landing, and bedroom. The double bed lies beneath a recessed ceiling and opposite the French doors that open onto the guests balcony. There is ample wardrobe and drawer space for holiday clothes, and there is an adapter, hairdryer and a night light for our guests comfort.
In the Main House, we have two further bedrooms that provide ideal accommodation for friends or families. "Chambre aux Papillons" is at the front of the house and has 2 single beds, white wicker furniture and hanging facilites for clothes. There is a hairdryer, adapter and night light. Along the landing you will find the other bedroom " Chambre aux Fleurs." Facing fields at the back, there is a double bed with 2 bedside lights, pine chest of drawers and hanging facilites for clothes. Again as with all our rooms, there is a hairdryer, adapter and night light.
The Guests Bathroom, is at the end of the landing which is shared by the two bedrooms which makes it ideal for families. Here, there is a white bathroom suite and a shower with a shower screen, wash hand basin, vanity unit and toilet.
Outside, we have a terraced area with a barbecue and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining. The back gate leads you onto the main garden area which is mainly laid to lawn, and includes an extensive organic vegetable plot, fruit garden and chicken run. This provides our seasonal, fresh fruit, vegetables and eggs. We have a large gravelled private parking area for up to 5 guest cars.
We also offer our guests an evening meal, served in the Dining Room where our guests join us for a "Plat du Jour" at our table in the traditional Chambres d'Hotes way.

Facilities
Additional Information for our Guests:- For guests with families, we are able to accommodate a travel cot in the bedroom "Chambre aux Fleurs." In the Barn Suite, we are able to put the travel cot and a single folding bed in the bedroom, ie to accommodate a family of 4( 2 adults and 2 young children). We supply the mattress and linen for both of these. There is no charge for the travel cot, and a supplement of 10 Euros for the folding bed. We also provide the use of a stairgate for the childrens security. For guests who wish to visit the beach, we are happy to provide a picnic, picnic rucksac and coolbag, and beach towels, at a small extra charge.
Activities
"Flowerpots" is ideally placed for all the traditional, and the not so traditional tourist attractions which have made Normandy so popular with visitors.
Other than the activities and places of interest indicated above we can suggest the historic Tapestry at Bayeux, @ 1 hrs drive. For families, there is also Alligator Bay, Beauvoir, @40 mins from us, Le roc des Harmonies at Granville, (an aquarium), Museums demonstrating the traditional ways of working on the land to cider making today.
Locally, we have walks, rambling and riding, all available.
We have found that whatever your interest there is something for everybody in this lovely region of France to ensure your holiday is as memorable as possible.

We are open all year round, and do not have a high or low season. The price of accommodation stays the same. As we are a Bed and Breakfast, subject to availability, we can be flexible on changeover days. The prices quoted for accommodation are per room, and includes a continental breakfast with the tariff.Evening meals are available at 20 euros per haed for adults. For children, the price is based on age at 1 euro per age of child ie, 5 years = 5 euros. For short breaks or longer stays we are happy to offer a special rate. For longer stays (a week or more) we would ask for a small deposit to secure your booking with us, together with the return of a completed booking form. Our prices quoted are in Euros, and payment is only accepted in Euros, or by cheque drawn on a French Bank Account.
