Welcome to La Thiaumerie, a 270 year old traditional stone farmhouse located in the hamlet of Saint Louet sur Vire, only ten minutes from the A84 autoroute and the new N174 dual carriageway to Cherbourg. This means it is easy to access La Thiaumerie from most of the western Channel ports to the UK and makes it a straightforward drive to several of northern France's airports, Rennes and Dinard both being only just over an hour away, Orly and Charles de Gaulles 2.5 hours. La Thiaumerie is currently rated No.2 of over 660 B&Bs in Normandy by Tripadvisor users and has recently won the Travellers Choice for 2012, putting it in the top 20 B&Bs in the whole of France. Although the property, facilites and location are all aspects to consider when choosing accommodation, the welcome you receive from your hosts can often be the most important factor that can make or break your holiday and the reviews of your hosts at La Thiaumerie are proof positive that a warm and helpful welcome is exactly what you will receive when you stay here.
Michael and Sally have been constantly renovating, enlarging and improving facilities since they opened for business 10 years ago and now offer guests a cosy lounge for their exclusive use along with a bar in the old "bakery" just across the courtyard from the main house. There are 2 double bedrooms, each with private bathroom/WC as well as a third double room in the converted hayloft which has it's own ensuite shower room/WC and sitting area, as well as an adjoining twin bedded room in the beamed attic, making it a perfect suite for families travelling together, or indeed groups of adults. One of the rooms is on the ground floor, making it easily accessible for those with mobility problems.
In addition to the facilities provided in most B&Bs La Thiaumerie also offers tea and coffee making facilities in each room along with hair-driers, complimentary toiletries and a welcome folder including itineraries, directions and maps for visits to the D-Day beaches and local restaurants. Restaurant reservations can also be made for guests.
A traditional French breakfast of tea, coffee, fresh orange juice, croissants and baguette plus the additions of toast, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt is served in the dining room and home-cooked evening meals are available on certain nights of the week by prior arrangement.
La Thiaumerie is set in half an acre of gardens where we there are several patio areas for guests to sit and relax and take in the views over the local countryside.
La Thiaumerie is approximately 50 minutes from the world heritage site of Mont St Michel, 40 minutes to the D-Day Landing beaches and US cemetery and 35 minutes to the beautiful medieval town of Bayeux. Your host, Michael, has a very keen interest and knowledge of the world war 2 history of this area and is always happy to help plan itineraries and explain the best use of limited time for visiting these historic sites.
Whether you are looking for a quiet, relaxing break in the country; an outdoor activity holiday or plan on touring the wonderful historical sites of Normandy, La Thiaumerie is a perfect base for your holiday, with comfortable and relaxing surroundings to return to at the end of a busy day.

La Thiaumerie is a great location for those who enjoy sports and outdoor activities. There are half a dozen golf courses all within an easy drive. There is also river and lake fishing, kayaking, hiking and a world famous bungy-jumping centre only 10 miles away. Sally can arrange horse-riding at local stables for you and there are many great walks and bike rides in the immediate vicinity.

We require a non-returnable deposit of the first night or 30% of the stay (whichever is greater) at time of booking. Full payment is not due until arrival, we accept euro cash or French euro cheques. In some cases we may accept sterling cheques or bank transfers for payment of deposits but all charges must be incurred by the sender. Alternatively, deposit payments can be made using Paypal. Cancellations within 7 days of due arrival, or early departure, will incur the full cost of the stay unless the room can be re-let. We ask guests to arrive between 4.30pm and 7.30pm unless they advise us differently. Departure is expected by 10.30am or additional charges may be made.
