La Befferie is the farmhouse of an old cider farm at La Befferie, a tiny hamlet in the rural Southern Manche Departement of Normandy, close to the Brittany border.
Dating back probably to the early 1700's, La Befferie is a traditional colombage or timber framed farmhouse which would originally have had a thatched roof. It is situated in 5.5 acres of gently rolling farmland, surrounded by apple trees and pasture, with a beautiful view down the valley.

We bought the house primarily for ourselves, so it has being lovingly restored, with all the home comforts you could wish for. We also try to provide everything you need to get you started, with a welcome pack of the essentials waiting for you on arrival.

This area around the Normandy/Brittany border has a vast choice of activities. A childrens theme/adventure park is only 10 minutes drive away, and the area is known for fishing, horseriding, cycling and walking, as well as kayaking with various local routes including a trip round the Baie de Mont St Michel.
The nearest beaches are 25 minutes drive away, up towards Granville and Carolles Plage, and the Normandy Landing Beaches are only an hours drive away, and the beautiful beaches of South Brittany are only a couple of hours drive away.
The City of Rennes or any number of other towns, all with their own market days (listed in the cottage) are only a short drive.
We leave a full range of leaflets in the cottage with details of local tourist information offices and so you will easily be able to find a host of activities once you arrive.
The area is very central with easy access to so many areas, it is only 2 hour

The cottage was restored ready for the Summer of 2007, and the inside is modern, light and comfortably furnished. There are exposed beams in all rooms, particularly the kitchen/dining room, and the cottage is well equipped. There is a basic kitchen store supply which we ask you to replace if you use anything.
The 3 bedrooms are all en-suite with modern fittings. The main bedroom has a bathroom with bath and shower over, and the other two bedrooms have shower rooms. (The French water pressure is strong, so if you are used to low pressure water as we are in the UK, the showers are gorgeously drenching!)
The garden is enclosed and safe for children, and is surrounded by an orchard where our neighbour often grazes his animals, and you can sit out and enjoy the view across the orchard and down the valley to the trout stream. Jays are regular visitors and the buzzards and sparrowhawks are often seen overhead.
