Nestling in the shelter of Mont Castre, LA MERISEis one of the old stone and mas (earth) farmhouses whose over three hundred years' of architecture is prized and increasingly preserved as a unique form of construction. On the south and sunny side of the Mont, the comfortable semi-detached gîte and old farmhouse are surrounded by colourful organic flower and vegetable gardens set amid green fiends and pastures. 
 
THE SURROUNDING AREA 
 
LA MERISE is centrally situated in the Cotentin Peninsular only 45 mnts directly south of Cherbourg in the small village of Gerville la Foret 5 klms south-east of the bustling market town of La Haye du Puits. There are excellent beaches in the region. Also good facilities for swimming, walking; golf, horse riding, carting canoeing, cycling sailing and windsurfing and also for museum lovers, photographers, artists and art lovers.
