Vacation Rental Description
Les Vignes is a beautiful country house set in 2 acres of exquisite wooded gardens with a south facing patio. There are stunning views across the hills of the Suisse Normande; surrounded by fields and natural countryside; there is a wealth of wildlife to be seen and the hedgerows are dotted with many varieties of wild flowers; cherry, apple and pear blossoms in the spring bring the famous Normandy orchards to life. Les Vignes offers a holiday of absolute peace and tranquillity. However, Pont D'Ouilly, a small pretty and unspoilt riverside town with shops, bars and restaurants is only 3 kms by road or 15 minutes by foot, via a track which boasts breathtakingly uplifting views. This little town has two patisseries, 2 bars and 5 good restaurants, butcher,P.O, small supermarket, florist,newsagent/gift shop. Situated on the River Orne, it is a centre for canoeing/kayaking, horse riding, mountain biking, hiking and many other outdoor activities.
Inside Les Vignes is tastefully decorated with a subtle mix of antique and "shabby chic" furniture and pretty soft furnishings. On the first floor the bedrooms are south facing, light and sunny; one has a mezzanine room above which is an additional bedroom/playroom. There is a bathroom and separate WC on this floor. On the ground floor, there is a very well equipped kitchen, dining-room/living room with log burning stove and doors to the patio and garden, there are also two additional sitting rooms, both of which have french doors to the garden; one is a music room with grand piano. There is a shower room/WC downstairs and a laundry/utility room with back door to the garden.
Falaise, the birth place of William the Conqueror is 15km by road; there all necessary amenities here including supermarkets, lovely shops,and a large Saturday market, it is a beautiful and interesting unspoilt historic town with many cultural activities, museums and a chateau. Caen, with all its cultural activities, shopping centre and the beaches of long golden sands and ferry port at Ouistreham are 25 and 30 kms by road.
The Suisse Normande is an area of outstanding natural beauty with rivers, waterfalls, gorges, forests, hills, offering many miles of spectacular footpaths and bridle paths. The Normandy Landing Beaches are within very easy reach and there are miles of golden sands within 45 minutes by road. This is an area ideal for lovers of outdoor pursuits from water sports to paragliding, perfect for family holidays or anyone who enjoys peace and beauty, an artists' haven!
Facilities
There is high speed Broadband internet access in the house. A large barbecue, children's swings, sand pit and various toys etc. There is a music room with grand piano.
Activities
There is tennis at Pont D'Ouilly, an aquatic centre/pool at Falaise and at Conde sur Noireau.
Canoeing, kayaking, horse riding mountain biking, rando buggy hire and paragliding are all available at the local town Pont D'Ouilly.
Nearby at the Roche d'Oetre ( 6 kms) is a woodland adventure course for all ages; Clecy,(7 kms) the centre of the Suisse Normande offers canoeing, kayaking, pedalo, rock climbing and paragliding. There is also a large golf course.
Bungy jumping and zip wire can be found at (Souleuvre 30kms) and various zoo parks are all within easy reach.
One can visit the fromageries at Camambert and Livarot, within half an hour by road.
Honfleur and Deauville are within an hour's drive as are the Normandy Landing Beaches and museums, and the lovely city of Bayeux with its famous tapestry.

A deposit of 25% of the rental is payable on booking, the balance is payable 6 weeks prior to arrival. For bookings made lesss than 6 weeks in advance, the full amount is payable at the time of reservation. Once a booking is confirmed, the hirer is responsible for the total cost of the holiday as shown on the invoice. In the event of cancellation, the hirer will be liable to pay the full balance of the tariff in full unless the house can be re-let. Booking deposits are non- returnable. Payment by bank transfer or euro cheques please.
