Vacation Rental Description
Welcome to Domaine de la Hamberie, a 17th Century Normandy farm in the fertile lower Calvados region of France. Set in seven acres of unspoilt countryside, the farm has plenty of room to roam, with gardens, fields, and wildlife areas. Five beautifully renovated gites can provide self-catering accommodation for parties of all sizes, with three of our gites accessible to wheelchair users. A solar heated swimming pool and a huge play barn are among the excellent facilities provided.
La Demure (Maison de la Ferme) for 12-16 people
This magnificent farm house which forms the centrepiece of the farm has been equipped as a self-catering gite to accommodate up to 14 people. There are 6 en-suite bedrooms, a large dining kitchen and a salon in the style of the 18th century. The entrance hall leads to an open stone staircase. The ground floor is paved throughout in Caen Stone. The fully equipped kitchen/dining room which can seat 14 at the large kitchen table has a wood burning fire in the original fireplace. The salon, carefully restored and decorated in the colours and the styles of its period also has a wood burning fire in its carved stone fireplace. The private garden and patio are accessed from the salon via French windows.
The First Floor comprises of a double bedroom (en-suite WC and shower), twin bedroom (en-suite WC and shower) with room for a third bed, and a Family Suite of two twin bedrooms with room for a third bed in the larger one. An En-suite WC and shower is located between the two rooms. The Second Floor (with all original oak beams exposed) comprises a Lounge area, double bedroom (en-suite WC and bath with shower) with room for a third bed, and twin bedroom (en-suite WC and bath with shower). In the Kitchen, the following equipment is provided: fridge freezer, dishwasher, large gas cooker, microwave, toaster, iron, kettle, coffee maker, crockery, tableware, cooking utensils, glassware, and cutlery. La Demure has central heating, private patio and garden with garden furniture, BBQ and private parking. Pillows and duvets are provided. Bed linen can be hired at £8 per person per week. Towels are not included, but for those travelling by air, towels can be hired at £4 per person per week if required. A welcome pack of a variety of essentials including bread, butter, milk, wine and Camembert cheese is provided. A small amount of sugar, tea and coffee are also provided to ease your arrival.

Falaise is the birth place of William the Conqueror, and the castle has been newly renovated. The Bayeux Tapestry is also well worth a visit, charting the events of William's invasion.
No visit to Calvados would be compete without a trip to the Normandy Landing Beaches. The site where "Operation Overlord" began is a moving tour for young and old alike. The cemeteries, where the honoured dead of all nations lie, are immaculately maintained and provide an experience never to be forgotten.
Festyland is a children's theme park near Caen . With lots of attractions it's a great day out.
Each gite has its own private garden or a day can be spent just relaxing by the pool.
Honfleur is a beautiful port town in the north of the region with many charming restaurants and cafes on the quay side.
Normandy is at present one of the best regions in France to fish for salmon, and is undisputedly the best region for sea-trout.
