Prestigious and highly rated bed and breakfast accommodation in a historic Manoir located in an idyllic setting in extensive entirely private gardens and grounds. Positioned astride the June 1944 boundry between the 1st US Army and 2nd British Army, close to the airbourne landings, invasion beaches, and major sites of the Battle of Normandy, Le Manoir d'Hérouville is ideally located for tours of the Normandy battles. Le Manoir is easily accessible from the Channel ports of Caen/Ouistreham and Cherbourg and Caen Carpiquet airport.

The Manoir has been extensively refurbished and carefully modernised in order to retain the feel and look of a pre revolutionary building. Available for rent within the Manoir there are 3 - 4 spacious and elegant bedrooms furnished with antique beds and furniture each with large modern en-suite bathrooms. Opulent towels and oversized bathrobes are provided in each room together with complimentary toiletries. Reference books, novels and Battlefield guides are provided in each room to help plan your days and there is an extensive library to draw upon as required.

For the exclusive use of guests an elegant drawing room has been comfortably furnished with huge overstuffed sofas, books, a wood burner in fact everything to ensure a convivual evening. The large traditionally furnished dining room is close enough to the kitchen to tantalise with the aroma of the freshly baked breads for which Le Manoir is justly celebrated. The popular breakfast includes our own home made yoghurt and compote, freshly made and seasonal conserves and breads and breakfast scones or cinnammon buns made daily in the Manoir kitchen, fresh eggs (often from our own hens) continental meats and ham, freshly ground coffe or speciality teas including decaffinated and herbal, children are often catered for separately. Suppers and pic-nics, cream teas and barbecues can all be provided, details of menus are available on our web site.

The round Pigionnier cottage is both unusual and charming, originally the Manoir dovecot it has been renovated to provide self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation for 2 or 4 persons. The mezzanine top floor is a twin bedroom with views over the extensive gardens and ponds, the middle floor is a double bedroom with shower room and the lower floor is a kitchen, dining and seating area with television and dvd. In the Kitchen, the following equipment is provided: fridge, full sized electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, crockery, tableware, cooking utensils, glassware, and cutlery. Towels and bed linen are supplied. A welcome pack of bread, wine and Camembert cheese is provided. A small amount of sugar, tea and coffee are also provided for your convenience.

There is parking for up to 10 cars in the courtyard and secure parking within the barns for motorcycles and bicycles. The Pigionnier Cottage can be used either as a Bed and Breakfast apartment, or as a self catering cottage. For guest use a large charcoal barbecue and pic-nic table are sited at the lake. A small television and a selection of DVDs reflecting the martial history of the area are popular features of the Pigionnier. For use on cooler evenings a wood burning stove has been installed in the Pigionnier sitting area. A full sized cot or travel cot/crib with bed linen, baby alarms and night lights are available at no extra cost. Please ask for details of our popular honeymoon special.

Fishing rods are available for fun fishing in our own small lake, for more serious fishing a 5 minute journey will take you to Etangs de Planquery a popular fishing complex.

On our doorstep is the Cerisy Forest. 2,130 hectares of tall beech and oak trees to discover on foot, horseback or bicycle. At all times magnificent this forest with its picnic tables and trails is user friendly and absorbing. Car parks are conveniently sited to enable families to picnic safely and comfortably. Deer and wild boar make their home in the forest and can sometimes be seen in early evening feeding at the roadside

If golf is your game then you will be well catered for as there are 12 golf courses within easy reach. The 27 hole course at Omaha beach is of international standard.
