Vacation Rental Description
This beautifully renovated cottage, surrounded by farmland, is perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle, bustle and pollution of modern day life. The hamlet was originally a monastery settlement, alas only the monastery farm now exists.
A mobile shop visits the hamlet reguarly and there is an excellent bar/restaurant in the village of Verneuil Moustiers. The nearest general store, boulangerie, pharmacy and tabac are at Lussac les Eglises, 7km.
We run the smallholding in an environmentally friendly fashion, reusing and recycling and aiming for self-sufficiency. Guests will be asked to separate their waste into rubbish, recycling and compost, using the bins provided by us. In the winter, when heating is required, the wood burner is preferred to the electric heaters. Wood for the burner can be purchase from us at a reasonable price.
The bedroom is very large it has a double bed with plenty of room for a travel cot. The room has exposed oak beams and a seating area with views over our meadow and the ancient oak trees.
A double futon is available in the lounge area downstairs.
The gite is accessible by wheelchair but only to the ground floor where the shower room and WC are located.
We do have cats and during the summer, when the doors are open, it is impossible to ensure they do not go in the gite. This could be a problem if you dislike cats or are allergic to them. We also have a friendly Welsh Border Collie, fencing is put up to stop the dog from intruding on residents privacy.
There is a garden area for use of all guests to the front and side of the gite. We have also provided a table, 4 chairs and a sun umbrella for alfresco dining there is also a chiminee barbecue. Guests will find ample off road space for parking.
If you would like to hire a bicycle we can provide this for a nominal fee. We provide tourist information leaflets for the local area, which include both outside and inside activities.
