Just 2kms from the village of St Mathieu, L'Hirondelle sits in the Haute Vienne countryside of the western Limousin and offers comfortable, en-suite bed & breakfast accommodation or self-catering holidays in a beautifully converted barn.  
 
This unspoilt region of France is ideal for experiencing the outdoors, whether it be walking, fishing, cycling or simply enjoying the scenery and fresh air whilst having a picnic on the banks of one of the regions many lakes.  
 
Limoges airport is just 40 minutes drive away and you can be in Limoges city centre in less than an hour. Similarly, Angoulême and its airport (in the Charente) & Perigueux (in the Dordogne) are both less than an hour away making this location ideal for exploring all three regions. 

The open plan design of the ground floor provides spacious, well furnished living and dining areas; a fitted kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer plus a downstairs cloakroom. There is free broadband internet access, UK & French TV and a DVD player. Upstairs, all 4 bedrooms have en-suite facilities, making L'Hirondelle perfect for groups of friends or families. There are two rooms with king-size beds and two rooms with twin single beds. The gîte benefits from full central heating for the cooler months. Towels and bed-linen are included, with beds made ready for your arrival. The secluded terrace & garden has wooden furniture, a parasol, BBQ and sun loungers. For the comfort of all, L'Hirondelle operates a no smoking policy within the gîte. Your hosts are available in the hamlet to offer advice with planning your days and to help you make the most of your precious holiday.

St Mathieu lake provides a sandy beach with supervised swimming, fishing, sailing and pedalo hire in summer with plenty of space to enjoy a picnic. There is also a restaurant / bar at the lake for drinks & meals.  
 
Other lakes within a half-hour drive of L'Hirondelle each offering their own ambience and opportunities for great family days out or dscover the magnificent Châteaux on the Richard the Lionheart route.  
 
Horse riding, cycling, kart racing, golf, sailing &'Randonnées' (marked walks).  
 
Buzzards and kites are often seen overhead, whilst blue tits, wrens, black redstarts, great tits, goldfinches, robins, blackbirds, thrushes, dunnocks and of course swallows are regular visitors. You may also catch a glimpse of less common birds, eg hoopoes and hen harriers. Deer can sometime be seen at the margin of the woods and visitors have also spotted foxes and wild boar!
