The Haute Vienne in the Limousin is the best kept secret for tourists who love remoteness but need accessibility. RIVERS, LAKES, WILDLIFE, QUIET ROADS and AMAZING SCENERY. Our house is like the tardis...it appears small on the outside but...!
We are situated in a little hamlet close to the village of Rancon which has basic shopping facilites, post office, restaurant and bar.The property has 2 bedrooms, one smallbut cosy double and one king double luxury en suite with room for a cot. There is a salon with a 'lit-ancien' daybed and a sofa bed, for a couple, children or same sex teenagers. The dining room seats 7+baby and leads onto the back terrace which has stunning views across the valley. There is a fully equiped kitchen and a side door leads to another huge terrace with a belvedere again with exquisite view. A DOLLHOUSE & MINIATURES COLLECTION is displayed on the landing where a balcony overlooks the dining room. The decor is ART NOUVEAU/DECO Themed with RARE VICTORIAN TILES incorporated or on display.
We have recently installed an outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the fabulous view.
The owners live next door and provide free seasonal organic vegetables and eggs as available. Rancon is in walking distance but the closeby towns of Bellac, Chateauponsac and Magnac Laval offer a wider shopping and tourist experience within a few kilometers. There are many beaches to choose from, the nearest being Lac St Pardoux, with clear water for swimming and facilities for sailing, and all the watersports.

Apart from the luxurious Jacuzzi with its fabulous view, (which is real fun even on a rainy day!), there is plenty to do in and around the house itself. An extensive dollhouse collection and an antique tile collection to muse over, board games and quite a library of books to browse through. The huge barn next door is being transformed into a games room for the 2010 season. The garden is lawn and hard landscaping...Two patiocs and plenty of places to sit in or out of the sun.We keep ducks and chickens, the ducks, being very tame will amuse the children!
The views are amazing and the local walks are a mixture of exerting and flat. We are 5 mins from the local bhuddist monastery wwhich is open to the public for a peaceful walk around, or to sit and contemplate!
Le Dorat is 15 minutes by car and has a huge mediaeval church. among other tourist attractions there is a porcelaine factory shop where bargains can be found amongst the huge variety of Limoges porcelaine.

Montrol-senard is 30 minutes drive but well worth a visit for its inhabitants have preserved it as a museum of life in the late 19th C.and their floral displays are second to none.
There are many lakeside beaches for swimming some with water flumes for the kids, but St Pardoux has a choice of beaches for safe swimming or watersports. Plenty of lakes also for fishing. There is a falconry and a bison farm to visit,as well as many brocantes.
