Vacation Rental Description
The chambres d'hôtes and one-bedroom apartment are situated in a former parsonage (presbytère) in the heart of of a small, beautiful town in the stunning department of La Creuse. The town is gateway to the Plateau de Millevaches and is part of the "French lake district" and so it is a haven for walkers, anglers, people who enjoy water sports and other activities. The apartment is self-contained. The living room has a very comfortable 3-seater sofa, which can be opened out for use as a second bed, and an armchair. This room is south facing. The kitchen is well equipped. The breakfast bar is the perfect place to eat at any time of the day, or to hang out and play games, or just have a chat over a glass of wine (or three). The bedroom is comfortable and spacious enough for an armchair, should you want to sit by the window and read. The property has a shower room.
The apartment is on one level, and is accessed from the ground floor and would be suitable for people with reduced mobility
Outside the apartment there is room to sit and enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.
We also have 2 bedrooms available to let in the main house. Both are large, have double beds, original features, and ensuite facilities. These rooms are both large enough to accommodate up to 2 additional single beds.
Bedroom one has an antique French bed and sofa. The fireplace has the date 1761 carved into it, and is pictured in a book about the town. It also has original wood paneling. It has an ensuite shower room.
Bedroom two is decorated with a black and white theme, and has original wood paneling, a lovely double bed, a fireplace, an antique washstand and a chaise longue. It has an ensuite bathroom.
We have a large dining room where you can eat breakfast and delicious vegetarian evening meals if you wish (if not there are restaurants in the town square, just a minutes walk away). The dining room has an original fireplace and wood paneling, and is decorated in keeping with it's history.
Outside there is room to sit and enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.
Le Vieux Presbytère de Felletin is set back from a quiet road, with ample parking and is less than a minutes walk away from the beautiful town square, with it's cafés, pizzeria, restaurant, small supermarket and banks and post office. The train station is only 2 minutes walk away, and taxi office only a minute away.
Facilities
The apartment: Linen and towels are included for the double bed, there is an addition charge of 10 euros per week, if linen is required for the sofa bed. There is ample parking available.
Activities
Felletin has many shops, bars and restaurants.It also has indoor tennis courts and a horse riding centre. Aubusson (9km away) has night clubs, lots of bars and places to eat, a cinema, a theatre and a swimming pool.
Lac de Vassivière has watersports, beaches, boat trips and fishing available. There are plenty of other rivers and lakes you can fish in too.
The golf course at Bourganeuf (30mins away) is a good one. There are also courses near the Lac de Vassivière and in the Auvergne in the direction of Clermont Ferrand.
Felletin is the gateway to the Plateau de Millevaches (a national park) and is a perfect base for those who enjoy walking, or cycling. It is just over an hours drive to the ski resort of Mont Dore, and 1.5 hours from the Puy de Dome, a beautiful range of extint volcanoes, You will also find a theme park (Vulcania).
Gueret has a wildlife park in which a pack of wolves can be seen in their natural environment

The rates quoted are for the apartment. We are happy to rent the apartment for shorter stays, please contact us for prices. For the chambres d'hôtes rooms the price of the rooms are 50 Euros per room, per night (regardless of season) with a charge of 10 Euros for each additional bed. Breakfast is available at 6 Euros per person, and a 3 course vegetarian evening meal costs 20 euros per person. Lunch is also available. We require a non-refundable deposit of 20% to secure the booking. This can be paid by Paypal, French cheque, or bank transfer. For the apartment we require the balance 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. For the chambres d'hôtes rooms the balance can be paid at the end of your stay.
