Vacation Rental Description

Situated as it is in an idyllic valley location this beautiful 500 year-old stone farmhouse just oozes character with its stone arches, barrel ceilings and original wooden beams. It is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, at the gateway to the Vallespir - a region of outstanding natural beauty, close to the lovely market town of Ceret - once home to Picasso, Soutine & many more artists of reknown. It is within half an hour of the lovely beaches of the Cote Vermeille and just 20 minutes from the Spanish border and the Costa Brava.

From the house one can walk via a small trout stream through the vines, cork oaks and cherry orchards of the Ventous, with its wonderful views of the mountains and the Mediterranean. It is truly a place of great tranquility and natural beauty, but at the same time within minutes of all the facilities.

La Cave is one of 6 apartments and is probably the most atmospheric. Once a wine cave it now offers spacious accommodation (103 sq m) and 2 private terraces with garden furniture & BBQ. The second, larger terrace has a wisteria covered pergola under which one may sit in the shade of the summer sun. The apartment itself is blessedly cool in summer. There are 2 spacious bedrooms, modern kitchen; raised & balustraded dining area with barrel ceilings and stone archways, sunny salon leading out on to the first of the terraces. This is an ideal family venue for those hot summer months.

Other apartments include: Le Vallespir (2/3 bedrooms & 2 shower rooms) a first floor apartment with balcony and views, La Petite Maison (3 bedrooms & 2 shower rooms) a 2 level house within the farmhouse which has been converted from stables.

We have a pretty, informal garden with summer kitchen, BBQs and pingpong. There are lovely walks directly from the farmhouse through vines, cork oaks and cherry orchards giving lovely views of the mountains and Mediterranean. It is an idyllic location which offers peace and tranquility but is wihin easy reach of all the faciliies of the nearby village of Le Pont and the market town of Ceret with its many cafes, museums and galleries.

We require a deposit of 25% on reservation with the balance being payable 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. The deposit is non-refundable. Clients are advised to take out a good travel insurance. Payment may be by card, bank transfer, cheque.
