Vacation Rental Description
Hortensia Cottage is a holiday cottage in France set in the famous Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, close to Carcassonne. On the edge of the charming village of Siran, Hortensia Cottage is tucked away in a quiet corner, within easy walking distance of the village centre. This old stone cottage has two totally private walled courtyards to the front & rear with jasmine, hydrangea and garden furniture.
The interior of Hortensia Cottage is pleasantly furnished, in harmony with its village setting. Hortensia Cottage has a pleasant lounge area with a wood burning stove. Off the lounge area is a fully fitted modern kitchen/dining area with full oven & hob, microwave & all crockery & utensils. From the kitchen, French doors lead out on to the secluded rear walled courtyard. On the first floor are two double bedrooms & a fully fitted bathroom with bath, shower, toilet & hand basin. A further flight of stairs leads to the large open plan grenier which is fully furnished with a king size bed, chaise longue & airmchairs. The grenier has an en suite bathroom & walk in wardrobe.
Hortensia Cottage is just a 30 minute drive away from the walled city of Carcassonne which is the location of the Carcassonne Salvaza airport, to which direct Ryanair flights arrive daily from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Dublin, Cork & Shannon airports.

Front & rear private, secluded terraces each with patio furniture & BBQ.
Activities
In the village of Siran there is a small local store, a boulangerie, a friendly bar & 2 excellent restaurants.
Hortensia Cottage is close to the Pepieux leisure lake which has supervised bathing, fishing & watersports & a lakeside bar/restaurant.
The medieval city of Carcassonne is approximately 30km away. Just outside the city is a second freshwater lake with man made beach, supervised bathing, adventure park, countryside walks & is an excellent location for a family day out.
The medieval fortified village of Minerve is a short drive away, as is the town of Olonzac where there is a lively market every Tuesday.
The excellent beaches of Narbonne, Valras & Gruisan are between 30 & 45 minutes away by car.

- Nearest Airport : Carcassonne at 30 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Train Station : Narbonne at 25 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : Olonzac at 10 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Daily Ryanair flights from Stansted, East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds/Bradford, Glasgow & Dublin to Carcassonne airport which is just 30 minutes drive away from Siran. There are also regular flights to Bezier, Montpellier, Toulouse & Perpignan airports which are all close by. Alternatively you can fly from almost any UK airport to Girona with Ryanair or Easyjet which is 1 hour 30 minutes away. The Channel Tunnel & main northern France ferry ports are a 10 to 12 hour drive away. There is car hire at Carcassone airport with Hertz. We would also recommend Carhire3000.com

We had a lovely time in Hortensia Cottage which we found to have been very well renovated & furnished. The French villagers are a delight as is the village of Siran & the surrounding area.

The cottage and the area are beautiful. Possible to relax and enjoy the french way of life or to
