Vacation Rental Description
With high ceilings, original beams and part stone walls, this large (approx. 65 sq m) open-plan first floor apartment suite provides light, airy, comfortable accommodation for two, as well as a large sofa-bed in the living room, which can sleep a further two.
A half-height wall separates the en-suite bedroom from the living room and modern, well-equipped kitchen. Both rooms overlook the village square and the impressive hills beyond.
The sunny living room has a large L-shaped sofa that converts to a double bed. This can also be used as a single bed – or for watching TV with your feet-up! English and French TV, books, games, radio/CD and DVD player provide a relaxed ‘home from home’ environment. In addition, free broadband WiFi internet access allows you to keep in touch.
The bedroom is furnished with a new, comfortable double bed, bedside table with lamps, built-in wardrobe, dressing table, etc..
The fully tiled bathroom is equipped with an enclosed shower, wash basin with mirror, WC, hair dryer, etc.
The modern, well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and storage cupboards provide everything you will need should you wish to cook gourmet meals, or simply eat a take-away pizza. Equipment includes a fridge/freezer, electric oven, hob with extractor, microwave/grill, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, as well as the usual kettle and toaster, with sufficient glasses, cutlery and crockery for at least four people.
Extras
All linen and towels are provided, meaning that airline weight restrictions do not cause a headache – or additional cost. A cot and high chair is available on request. There is a small additional charge for the hire of large beach towels.
This boutique property is set between the mountains and the Mediterranean beaches of the Languedoc, South West France. It is an ideal all-year round base for either a short-break, a self-catering activity or sightseeing holiday – or longer stay.
Situated in the heart of Saint-Chinian, these stylish, spacious and sunny (south facing) apartments, newly converted in late 2007, provide free high-speed broadband WiFi internet access as well as English and French TV and radio, and yet retain some of the original features of one of the oldest buildings in this lively, historic wine village. Their sunny open aspect and large windows directly overlook the large village square with its thriving twice-weekly markets (Thursday and Sunday).
On your door step
Immediately outside Maison de la Place is plenty of shaded seating to enjoy the relaxed French way of life. A peaceful garden, small childrens’ play area, boules, cafés for enjoying a coffee or glass of the local wine, as well as an oyster and shell-fish bar – are all literally on your doorstep.
Free parking is available right outside the property and the plentiful local restaurants means that there is no need to risk meeting a Gendarme when driving home from a ‘happy’ evening out!
Everything is within easy reach. The restaurants, boulangeries, boucheries, a bio food shop and supermarket, bicycle hire, banks, post office, pharmacy, newsagent, coiffeur, fishing tackle shop, dry-cleaners, outdoor swimming pool (open from June 1st), tennis and river fishing are all within a few minutes walk.
To see and do
There is always such a lot to see and do in and around Saint-Chinian, you will never be bored. Famous for its AOC wines, great location, 300 days of sunshine per year, historic Cathar castles, and the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding countryside, a week or two provides only enough time to make you want to come back, time and again.
