Vacation Rental Description
L’Amandier is a very well equipped villa, which also acts as a home to the owners for several months a year. As such it has all the comforts one expects such as comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen,UK satellite television, Wi-fi internet access, Hi-fi with DVD player, video and lots of wonderful plants in the impressive garden.
There is a large (12 metres by 5 metres) swimming pool with roman steps for easy access. The depth ranges from 1 metre to 2 metres approx. There is also a hammock and swing chair as well as parasols and dining set on the sunny terrace. The property lies in a small village with its own bar/restaurant and is about two minutes drive from Paulhan a larger village with many shops, bars, bistros and even and Indian restaurant. Less than ten minutes drive away is the beautiful medieval town of Pezenas with plenty shops, bars and restaurants and a great street market. The vibrant and city of Montpellier can be reached in about 40 minutes.
The accommodation
The villa is all on one level. The large sitting room has a comfortable sofa and armchairs, television (with UK satellite TV), Hi-fi DVD player, CD player, Video etc. For thos bringing their own laptop computer Wi-fi internet access is also available. There is also a large dining table and chairs.
The kitchen is fully fitted with oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, huge American fridge freezer, and washing machine.
There are four bedrooms, three doubles (one en-suite) and a twin with plenty of fitted wardrobe space. Two of the double bedrooms have views over the secluded gardens.
There is a family bathroom with full size bath and shower as well as toilet and wash hand basin; there is also a separate toilet.
L’Amandier is in a quiet location in a small village with its own bar/bistro some 5 minutes walk away. Most of the gardens are at the rear of the property and are quite secluded. There are shaded areas for quiet relaxation with hammock and swing-bed as well as sun-beds provided. There is a sunny terrace directly outside the villa with table and chairs to enjoy those long cold drinks or maybe a glass of the superb locally produced wine. There is also of course a large barbeque for trying your hand at cooking some of the fresh local seafood or meats. At the front of the property is further garden area for private car parking.
Just ten minutes drive from L’Amandier is Pezenas a very pretty medieval town with an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. The centre is full of buildings dating back to the 16th & 17th centuries. There is also an excellent market on Saturday which provides an ideal opportunity to stock up on the wonderful regional delicacies, fresh salads and vegetables, meats, cheeses, seafood and of course the local wine. Take a stroll through the old town with its unique craft and clothes shops and finally stop at one (or two) of the many bars or bistros in the 'Place de 14th Juillet'. You are perfectly placed for the Mediterranean; the nearest beaches can be reached in just 20 minutes. Close by is the holiday resort of Cap d'Agde. It has some 14 kilometres of fine beaches and many attractions for the children like 'Toonland' and the famous 'Aqua Park' with its giant flumes, water slides and wave machine as well as a super 'tots area' for the younger children.
As well as beaches, there are beautiful lakes, mountains and gorges within one hours drive. The area has large numbers of medieval towns and villages to visit including Pezenas, St Guilhem-le-Desert, and the Cite of Carcassonne. Just over hours drive will take you to the heart of 'Cathar' country with its imposing castles and monasteries such as Montsegur and Queribus.
L’Amandier will appeal to families or couples looking to relax in a friendly environment with a high standard of accommodation and good facilities close by.
