Vacation Rental Description
Capestang is a lively and popular wine-producing village, surrounded by wine domaines and vineyards. It has a wealth of activities especially in the summer season. It is an ideal base for exploring Languedoc but also has enough shops and restaurants so that you don't have to get in thez car if you fancy a lazy day. Le Petit Vigneron is a spacious and sunny apartment on the first floor of an unusual house, converted from a wine-making building, just a short stroll from the village centre, or the port on the Canal du Midi. The old wine storage cuves still have wine crystals on the walls. The apartment is self-contained with its own vine-covered entrance. An open-tread staircase leads into the main room which overlooks the garden. There is a high quality settee and armchairs, further raised lounging area, television(in French), DVD player, radio and CD. Internet access via Wifi is available. A pine dining table and chairs are at the kitchen end, where you will find everything needed for self-catering, full cooker, micro-wave, fridge, toaster, good quality pans and sharp knives.
The internal corridor leads to the double bedroom with pine furniture, the twin room and the large bathroom with shower over the bath, basin with storage below, hairdryer, ironing board, iron and washing machine. The corridor and both bedrooms are fully carpeted and all rooms have electric heaters.
The corridor also opens onto the private, south-facing terrace, which looks onto the garden and has views of the church which is floodlit at night. The terrace has table, chairs, 2 sun-loungers, parasol and barbecue.
When the heat drives you from the terrace, you are welcome to sit at a shady table in the garden and to pick the many herbs which will bring the authentic Mediterranean flavour to your meals. See our guests' comments on Tripadvisor.

  • Le Petit Vigneron is open March to October inclusive and is equipped to be comfortable in all temperatures. The windows in the living room are tinted to reduce glare and to keep the room cool. The large window onto the terrace has a shutter enabling you to keep out the sun but let air in. A large fan keeps you cool. In winter the sunny living room is naturally warm but like all the rooms has a radiator. The bedrooms are carpeted and have a selection of bedding to suit all seasons. Set in a long garden, here you are well back from the road,so it is peaceful, but only yards away from the port which is directly behind the house, and from the facilities in the centre of the village. You don't need to get in the car to shop for daily needs, have a drink in one of the cafés or a meal in one the restaurants. Equally the location of the village makes this venue ideal for sightseeing, going to the beaches, mountains or lazing along the canal.

    Owner Location Comment
Le Petit Vigneron is ideally positioned in the village of Capestang. Set back from the road it is quiet and restful, but a short stroll brings you to the canal du Midi or to the village centre with shops, restaurants, cafes and banks. The village is a perfect base from which to explore the region, being just 20 minutes drive from the resorts of the Mediterranean to the south, and from the national Park of High Languedoc to the north. It is on the Canal du Midi, a world Heritage site, on the routes of Minervois wines and the Cathar castles. Guests who have spent as much as 3 weeks here have said they have barely scratched the surface of things to do and see. Equally those who just want to enjoy the sun can laze happily on the sunloungers sipping the local wine!

Experience counts in choosing your holiday

We have always enjoyed holidaying in France plus as a teacher of French I brought groups to the south every year for 10 years. We rented many properties and found out exactly what was needed to ensure a trouble-free and enjoyable holiday. We bought our first property, a delightful village house which we still own and rent out long-term. As soon as we could we moved to France permanently and live in the house you see on the advert. It is far bigger than we need and lent itself to being split to create a separate appartment.
That was over 6 years ago and we have had very successful seasons and met wonderful people. We obviously live on-site, but are not in your hair! We are there if you need us and past experience has brought knocks on our door for many reasons: accident in the hire-car, loan of maps for walking, phone call to book a meal, advice on visits, shopping etc. etc. Some of these guests have become friends and one couple has even bought a house just round the corner from us! Our guest-book reflects the appreciation that our guests have had in our warm welcome and experienced advice. Living in the village means we know the restaurants, the shops, the wine domaines, and the best places to visit. We have lots of brochures, maps, phrase books and our own knowledge of 3 European languages.
