Vacation Rental Description
With the Canal du Midi and the Beaches of the Med only 10 minutes away cycling through beautiful vineyards, we have an ideal location for spending lazy days by the pool, lunch by the canal or enjoying sunset margaritas on a sandy beach. The area enjoys 300+ days of sunshine each year . There are many mountain hikes and gorges, half an hour away. Beziers' 18-hole St Thomas golf course is nearby (green fees c.€40) and Cap d'Agde a 20 min drive for Ibezan nightlife; naturist resort; international 18-hole golf course, 9-hole compact course, driving range, practice areas, pitch & putt greens. Wine lovers can follow the wine routes & chateaux of Fitou, Minervois, Corbieres, Muscat de Rivesaltes, St Chinian, Faugeres, Pic St Loup, sparkling wines of Limoux & many of the boutique wineries making an international name for themselves (Daumas Gassac, etc.). Carcassonne, a medieval UNESCO site, is less than an hour away and many other Cathar villages besides. Beautiful historic Pezenas, the home to Molliere (France's equivalent to Shakespeare) is a 20 min drive away. For some natural healing you can enjoy Rennes les Bains' thermal springs. To try a different country, continue south to the Pyrenees for Andorra, cross the Spanish border (1hr) stopping at the pretty village of Collioure or carry on to Cadaqués, Spain's St Tropez!Transportation to this area is straightforward with low cost airlines into Beziers-Cap d'Agde (15 min drive) and four other airports within easy reach. Paris - Beziers TGV train takes around 4 hours. For those wishing to brush up on their languages, we can pre-arrange French lessons with a fully-qualified English speaking French teacher.
This is a villa which can sleep up to 6 (there is a separate self-catering holiday apartment annexed to the villa which also sleeps a further 2, rented separately or together for an additional fee). The villa is fitted with air conditioning, heating and is fully furnished (including linens and towels). There is also a washing machine shared beween the 2 properties. English TV is also available (BBC, ITV, Ch4, E4, Film4, BBC world news, Sky News, etc.). Patio doors from the villa lead to private terraces. The separate apartment is also secluded from the main villa and has its own terracing apart from the villa. There is easy access to the newly installed inground pool (usage recommended from May - early Oct), great for topping up the tan while sipping on a glass of local rosé! Guests can use the shared BBQ with all-year round al fresco dining possible. The villa is fitted with mosquito screens, great for falling asleep to the sounds of nature, it borders the picturesque vineyard of Chateau le Thou and is within easy walking to the village centre where bars, cafés, restaurants and wine tasting caves await. It is within easy cycling and driving distance to the Canal du Midi and to the beaches. Cycle routes begin by us! Beziers, with many more cafés, bars, shops & restaurants, is a 10 minute drive away.
Languages: for those wishing to brush up on French we can arrange for french lessons with a fully qualified English speaking French language teacher in a neighbouring village (currently at 20 euros / hour, minimum of 2 hours).
We are happy to try to accommodate any special requirements. The accomodation is equipped with additional extras of hairdryer, coolbox, iron & ironing board. Bicycles can be rented nearby throughout the summer. We offer wireless broadband access for anyone wishing to access it with own laptop or ipod touch.
Facilities
There is plenty of outdoor space to lounge or walk around. On our door are walking & cycle trails amonst the vineyards. The garden has wonderful views over the vineyards but we are within easy walking distance of the village centre. The village has all usual amenities, as well as a fresh farmers market and a farmers shop offering freshly grown local produce and locally produced cheeses. We also have a wine boutique who runs wine & food matching evening soirees every Thurs - Sun (booking required).
Activities
This is an activity-based area as well as laden with history, nature reserves, culture and wine. With c.+300 days of sunshine per year outdoor living is the norm and this property is built for this with a tranquil haven away from the hustle and bustle. No busy roads run near us & a vineyard runs next to us. This region is gastronomic with the world's biggest wine region. For history-buffs, we are in the heart of Cathar castles & a strong history of Spanish culture as well as French. There are quite a few golf courses to choose from with an international 18 hole with practice driving ranges at Beziers St Thomas and Cap d'Agde a short drive away. Sailing lessons or yacht / catamaran hire can be found at nearby Valras Plage. There is a whole range of activities for children and adults alike.

To secure your booking you can make a 50% deposit of your stay's total amount in Euros or Sterling. We will reimburse 50% of this deposit should you cancel prior to 30 days of your arrival. We charge a cleaning & laundry fee of 50 euros and request a damage deposit of 200 euros, reimbursable minus the cleaning fee at the end of your stay. We can negotiate lower rates inclusive of bills, internet and taxes for longer-term stays during out of high season.
