Vacation Rental Description
This former wine grower's house combines space and character with comfortable well equipped accommodation. It is in a quiet location and is a short walk from bakery, general village store, pharmacy and a cafe which serves excellent weekday 3 course lunch with wine (currently for 11 euros). There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, 2 shower rooms, dining kitchen, double sized living and dining room, original spiral stone staircase, spacious private terrace and garage. The living accommodation is on the first and second floors. The windows are all full length French windows. The living room has comfortable leather chairs and a wood burning stove at one end and dining table at the other. There is English satellite TV. There is also table and 4 chairs in the kitchen and the same on the terrace so there is a choice of three rooms (including terrace) from which to dine! There is washing machine and dishwasher, microwave and new ceramic hob and electric oven. A barbeque is also available. As well as the wood burning stove, there are electric convector radiators for winter and room fans for summer.

The village is an unspoilt wine growing village with several of its own labels. There are plenty of opportunities for wine tasting with the well known Faugeres wines 10 minutes drive away. The house is in an excellent location for exploring this fascinating and varied region. The Mediterranean sea is half an hour's drive away and the hills leading onto the dramatic Cevennes mountains are 20 minutes drive in the other direction. The house is just outside the National Park with beautiful countryside and dramatic scenery of mountains and gorges. There are views of the hills from the house including frequent glorious sunsets. The pretty town of Pezenas is less than half an hour away as is the city of Beziers. The historic cities of Nimes, Carcassonne and Montpellier are each about an hour's drive away and the Spanish border about an hour and a half.

Beziers airport has recently opened to Ryanair flights from London Luton (and Stansted from March)which is less than half an hour's drive away and therefore convenient and economical.

    • The living accommodation (kitche, living room and terrace) is on the first floor and the bedrooms on the second. The ground floor is garage/ storage. There is a high and original stone spiral staircase all the way up and all the windows are full length French windows opening onto the terrace (kitchen) or onto mini balconies (living room) or onto iron railings (bedrooms). The house is therefore not suitable for people with mobility problems. The countryside is excellent for walking or cycling. There are two mountain bikes available for your use. There are golf courses at Beziers and Lamalou les Bains both about 20 minutes drive away.

    • There is a lunchtime cafe (as described above) which is open as a bar in the evening. There are restaurants in the nearby village of Magalas less than 10 minutes drive. The supermarket is 5 minutes drive but there is a well stocked general store, bakery and pharmacy 2 minutes walk away in the village.
