In the heart of The Languedoc vineyards, close to the pretty medieval town of Murviel les Beziers and with a large swimming pool, Chateau Coujan offers two domaine houses, one 2 bedroomed and one 3 bedroomed available either separately or together for a large family or friends holidaying together.
Just 15 minutes from the historic city of Beziers and approx 30 minutes from The Mediterranean, The Chateau is set in the most beautiful, tranquil setting. There are acres of space to roam to your hearts content and superb views from your own private terraces, with barbeques, which overlook the olive groves and the vineyards.
There is a swimming pool, picturesque terraces and of course the opportunity to sample the many superb wines produced on site. There is also locally produced honey and olive oil to try.
Maison Syrah (2 bedroomed property)
On the ground floor is a spacious, open plan sitting room and dining area (right), beautifully furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. There is a television, video player and CD. The kitchen is well equipped with full oven, hob, dishwasher, large fridge-freezer and microwave, there is also a washing machine available for guests.
On the first floor are two good sized bedrooms, one double with views over the olive groves, this bedroom could also accommodate a cot, and a twin bedroom with two full sized twin beds and also a smaller childs bed which would be suitable for children up to about 10 years old. The shower-room has two wash hand basins and a toilet as well as a large shower cubicle. Outside, to the rear of the property is a private elevated terrace giving great views of the surrounding countryside.
Maison Cabernet (3 bedroomed property)
The ground floor is open plan with a large sitting/dining area complete with television, sofas and chairs and a lovely old dining table and chairs, leading off of this area is a separate w.c. There is a small but well equipped kitchen including oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer as well as kettle and toaster, doors from the kitchen lead onto the rear terrace overlooking the olive groves and giving access to the nearby swimming pool. The first floor boasts 3 good sized bedrooms, two doubles and one twin. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, bedroom 1 has a shower-room and separate w.c, bedroom 2 has bath with shower attachment and separate w.c and bedroom 3 (twin) has a shower-room with w.c.
From the rear terraces of the properties a path leads the 30 metres to the swimming pool which is 12 x 5 metres and has a small shallow area for toddlers.
The area
Chateau Coujan is just 4 kilometres from the small town of Murviel les Beziers which has bars, restaurants and many shops as well as a large supermarket. A further 10 minutes takes you to the city of Beziers, centre of the Languedoc wine trade. The city is famed for its annual ‘Feria’ a massive weeklong ‘street party’ which starts in the evening and goes on all night. There are wonderful sites to see in Beziers including the Cathedral, the Canal du Midi (a World Heritage Site) and the famous Neuf Ecluse. There is a large market on Fridays where you can stock up on wonderful local produce before taking a long lazy lunch at one of the many cafes and bistros.
15 minutes from Beziers is the famous beach resort of Valras Plage with over a mile of golden sands, a fun fair and a very smart yacht harbour. For those more active there is canoeing and kayaking close by on the river Orb and the Haut Languedoc National Park which is great for walkers, is within 30 minutes drive
Sit on your terrace of an evening and watch the sun set over the olive groves as you prepare a barbeque with local fresh produce. Chateau Coujan will appeal to couples and families looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday in accommodation of a good standard.
