MAISON DU TONNELLERIE is an 18th century stone village house, completely restored with all modern conveniences. The house has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a separate WC, a large salon or living room, new modern kitchen and a sunny private courtyard with BBQ.
The house is in the small, picturesque Provencal village of Vers Pont du Gard, which is 25 km northeast of Nîmes and 25 km west of Avignon. The village has a bar/café, a boulangerie, a boucherie, a mini mart, a Tabac and a restaurant, all within a short walk. A large supermarket is less than 10 minutes away.
It's only a 10 minute drive to the fairly large town of Uzes, which has all shops and services, twice weekly markets - the Saturday market is one of the best open markets in southern France. There are also beaucoup de festivals and events year-round.
A 5 minute drive, a 15 minute bike ride or 30 minute walk will take you to the Pont du Gard, the beautiful Roman aqueduct. It’s possible to visit the stone quarries - right in Vers - that provided the stone for the Pont du Gard in the first century A.D. The quarries are still in daily operation providing stone for construction projects and decorative objects throughout France. The fabulous French Riviera towns and beaches are only an hour and a half away by autoroute.

A thirty minute walk or a five minute drive takes you to the world famous Pont du Gard, the 2nd most visited tourist site in France. Though it looks like a bridge, and was long used as one, the Pont du Gard is an aqueduct completed in the first century A.D. by the Romans to provide water to the ancient city of Nimes. The engineering of this marvel is so precise, that modern computer aided design could not improve on the construction.
Uzes is the nearest larger town - actually a small city - about 11,000 population - with a lot going on.
The Duke of Uzes was the first Duke in France. The Duchy remains to this day, and the palace is open for tours. Don't expect the Duke will be there to greet you, however.
Besides the renowned twice-weekly markets, Uzes has excellent shopping, sightseeing and dining.

Our kitchen - cuisine - has been completely redone. New kitchen units, new gas stove, refrigerator with freezer, butler's sink and dishwasher are ready for use. The fireplace, once used to heat and oil the cooper's tools, is no longer useable, but still quaintly decorative. Open the shutters each morning to let in the day.
One bedroom boasts a queen size bed with bedside tables and lamps. An armoir is provided for hanging clothes and storing luggage. A writing/working table overlooking the neighborhood creates a perfect place to catch up on your notes or postcards either the old fashioned way or using your laptop. High-speed internet with wireless connectivity is provided.
The second cozy bedroom has a full size bed with bedside tables and lamps. A large closet area is hidden behind a linen curtain - perfect for hanging clothes and hiding luggage.
