Vacation Rental Description
Situated in the quiet village of Vallabrix, this typically southern French gite has been renovated from its original 200 year old state. It still retains its old charm and authentic character. During your summer stay, you will enjoy the fresh terrace, and during winter stay, you can relax in front of the wood-burning fire. But most of all, what sets this gite apart is its friendly and welcoming owners who will care to the quality of your stay. Vallabrix, is located 5km from the medieval city of Uzès: its bi-weekly market offers high-quality local products and the numerous restaurants will welcome you for a glass of French wine or an original meal in one of the many outdoor restaurants. The Uzège region boasts a hilly and diverse landscape, filled with vineyards, fruit orchards, Mediterranean forests, and many villages typically of the South of France that you can discover on foot or by bicycle or on horseback.
For a day trip, you can choose between: the Cevennes mountains and rivers with the unique in Europe Andouze bamboo garden, the Roman archictecture (the arenas of Nîmes and Orange, the Pont du Gard, etc.), swimming in the Mediterranean sea, canoe renting in one of the nearby rivers, visiting Avignon or Montpellier, and, if your stay is during one of the many cultural festivals, you can finish off the day by enjoying a theatre piece, a concert, or a dance performance. And, as the gite is in a quiet and nice environment, you can just relax and listen to the cegals.
Facilities
Bicycles and washing machine = avaialable on request and free of charge. Also, towels and bedsheats are available for weekly charge of 10€ per bed. WiFi is also offered free of charge. This simple gite offers a break from the technology-dependent city life.
Activities
The playground, in Uzès, is next to the outdoor pool in a spacious and shady park: la Vallée de l'Eure. Two other pools 15-20km away, are very family oriented, and provide the opportunity to spend all day sitting in the shade and enjoying a picnic.
In the neighbouring village of St. Quentin la Poterie, (3km away) you can spend the day visiting the pottery exposition in the gallery, or at the Musée de la Poterie, and 24 potters, each at their own workshop, will proudly show you their works and will explain to you their own specific process, which they use.
The area is filled with different museums, inclduing the museums of: Haribo candy, silk, 1900's, old toys, trains, Protestant history, Cevennes way of life, writing, music, etc.
Diverse grottos, filled with extraordinary stalagtites and stalagmites, can be visited, also.
And for something completely original, you can see the region - by hot air balloon!

- Travel Info: Vallabrix is a small village located between Avignon and Nîmes, near from Uzès. Having a car is recommanded as there is no shop in the village. Renting a car is easy at Nîmes (30 km), Montpellier (100 km) or Avignon (35 km) airports.

The prices listed are reducted with longer stays. 30% of the fee is required at the reservation (cheques in Euro or international bank transfer (bank fees at your charge), which is non-refundable in case of cancellation (unless other lodgers book the gite). Cheques (in Euro) or cash accepted for the remaining fee at arrival. 150€ safety deposit required. From September to the end of May, you can rent the gite for 500€ per month (electricity, hydro, and wood = NOT included)
