Vacation Rental Description
The Chateau comprises six beautifully renovated gites with 1-4 bedrooms suitable for a couple or a large family group. Choose all six apartments for a family reunion amidst the spectacular Cevennes hills. Swim in the river or pool and soak up the sunshine in the 6 acres of grounds. Our bio UV pool (12x5m) was completed in 2007 and has proved a huge hit. It is cleaned by a powerful UVC light supplemented by ozone and plant beds.
Children will make friends with the animals (donkey, pony, ducks and hens) and enjoy the freedom of our large parkland. When you don't fancy cooking why not walk up to the bar or excellent local restaurant to enjoy your evening meal. The town with a market and all facilities is 5 mins by car. Horse riding, hiking, kayaking, rope works, markets, medieval towns and roman architecture are all nearby – the spectacular Roman Aqueduct the Pont du Gard is just a 35 mins drive. Surrounded by beautiful scenery we are still only just over an hour from the Mediterranean – ideally situated for a relaxing and varied holiday.
All the apartments have been thoughtfully renovated to offer both modern comfort and original features and each has its own independent entrance and outside terrace area. The apartments are cool in summer and in spring and autumn may be heated by wood fires or stoves. All except Les Pins are situated in the original Chateau buildings but this large apartment benefits from added accessibility and guests in wheelchairs may be welcomed.
The six acres of parkland surrounding the Chateau includes 150 metres of river frontage, an ancient water source, sweet chestnut trees dating back two hundred years and assorted friendly animals. Eggs from our ducks and hens should be available. The local bar and restaurant are only two minutes away and baby sitting can be arranged. The lake of Camboux is close by (2km) for fishing or swimming or hiring a boat from the lake beach. Five minutes brings you to our nearest town where the supermarket has a range of products and a large market offering local produce including wine, honey and cheese as well as general goods. Alès (15km) boasts fountains, boutiques, cafes and restaurants all with cheap, easy parking.
Other attractions, less than an hour away, include a spectacular drive through the mountains to the historic town of Florac, a trip on the stream train from Anduze, or a day spent kayaking on the Ardeche - take lunch, swimming costume and sun cream! The Mediterranean is just over an hour. Visit the miles of sandy beaches at l’Espiguette or the pretty fishing port of Le Grau du Roi. See the flamingos and white horses of the Carmargue. Your hosts speak English and French and will be delighted to help out with local information to ensure you get the best out of your holiday. The owners live on site and are happy to help with local information. During the high season a regular table-d'hote will be offered enabling you to enjoy a relaxed evening with good food and local wine in company of fellow guests.
Fly Ryanair from Stansted, Luton, Nottingham or Liverpool. We're just an hour from Nimes or Montpellier!
Facilities
Facilites vary depending on the size of the gites, but all family gites have well-equipped kitchens including dishwasher. Our large gite, les Pins also has it's own washing machine and DVD player. Two washing machines are also available in a communal laundry room for the use of other guests. Our smaller gite, the Chateau Apartment, has smaller kitchenette and is designed for a couple or couple with one child. Activities
Lake beach with boat hire 2km
Golf - there are two 18 hole courses at Nimes (50 mins) and a really lovely 9 hole course at a small, friendly club near Uzes (1hr).
Shopping - supermarkets 5 mins; boutiques, hypermarkets at Ales (15mins) and Nimes (50mins)
Restaurants - nearest two min walk; many more in the vicinity.
Kayaking - Ardeche (50mins), Tarn (1hr 20 mins), Ceze (35 mins), Lake (2 mins).
For the more adventurous the Ardeche and the Tarn are both stunning and well worth the trip.
Horse Riding (30 mins) ask owner to make a reservation
Rope works and Canyoning - lots of excellent Rope and zip wire parks within 35 min drive. Also Canyoning on the Ceze and Gardon.
Fishing - at the bottom of the garden! Also in the nearby lake.
Walking - lots of beautiful walks in the Cevennes.
Also - medieval villages; Roman sites (Nimes and Pont du Gard) and the Mediterranean is just 1hr 30mins for a swim in the sea!

- Nearest Train Station : La Grand' Combe at 5 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : La Grand'Combe at 5 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Nimes is the nearest airport (1hr) but Montpellier is a close second - 1½hrs. Marseille 2½hrs. TGV at Avignon - 2hrs. Alès is 20mins for good train links but there is also a smaller station at La Grand'Combe just 5mins away. Check Ryanair/ Flybe / Easyjet and BA for flights.

Prices depend on the time of year and the size of the gite booked. Prices shown are for a 4/5 pers gite. All prices are per week Saturday 17.00 to Saturday 10.00. Gas and electricity are included in the price. Wood for wood-burning stoves is charged at cost. Other heaters are available for hire. Towels are supplied but please bring your own for swimming. Bedlinen is charged at £10 p/w dbl; £8 p/w sngl. Guests who book for a fortnight will be charged for two sets of linen. A cot and high chair are available on request. A deposit for each week of letting is required at the time of booking. The final payment together with the refundable breakages deposit of £100/150€ is due 8 weeks before the letting. Guests are asked to leave their apartments in good order. Cleaning charges between £30 and £75, depending on gite size and length of stay. Short breaks possible in spring and autumn. Spent 2 weeks in early summer, fantastic weather. Really comfortable gite with great owners. I was there for the sound of music weekend, enjoyable because I knew the songs, albeit in English. A wonderful, easy area to explore, particularly on my motorbike. Some happy hours spent at the local bar with Didier. As the brochure says, a lovely location with a pleasant natural pool, lots to see and do.

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at the Chateau du Fraissinett! The place was just fantastic, so picturesque with the lavender lined driveway. The pool was fab too - we loved the fact that it was chlorine free - so our Irish hair wasn't as frizzy as it might have been!! 2k down the road was a wonderful lake that you can swim in too! Our little girl made some little friends with other children staying at the Chateau, which was great. Each week, Alison & Chris host a Table d'hote which should not be missed - the food was fantastic, and the ambiance wonderful and made for very memorable evenings. Just a 2 minute stroll away is the Auberge du Fraissinet which also had fantastic cuisine. We made trips to Anduze, Uzes, Grottes du Cocliere and Avignon and enjoyed all of them - Anduze and Uzes are so quintessentially French; the Grottes were utterly spectacular - well worth a trip - for both adults and kids; and then we were lucky enough to hap upon the Theatre Festival on the day we visited Avignon!
You can also get some fantastic Free Range eggs from the hens and ducks at the Chateau, which we looked forward to each morning. So as The Terminator said - "I'll be back!" So thanks again to Alison, Chris & the girls for a wonderful holiday! Trish, Conor & Rebecca - Dublin, Ireland

Chateau du Fraissinet - family-run business with a friendly atmosphere.
We now have five gites in our little holiday complex and our guests find that in high season there are always other families for their children to play with. Guests meet up around the pool or at the weekly table d'hote where we also get the chance to talk to people and answer questions on the property and the area over one of Chris's fantastic 3-course dinners and several glasses of wine! Guests have often tried 'somewhere different' after coming to us, only to return the following year. We pride ourselves on maintaining a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere which is hard to match in larger establishments. Our animals are a realdraw, too, and definitely add to the ambience of the Chateau.
Out of season we regularly welcome walkers who take advantage of the fantastic scenery and well-marked footpaths. We are able to cater for larger groups too, so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Our local restaurant is only two minutes walk so guests can enjoy a glass or two of wine with an excellent meal.
